There was a month lapse since last issue. This was a special The Dragon / Little Wars combined issue. It was released with a single cardstock survey mailer attached between pages 32 and 33.
In Dungeons and Dragons: What it is and Where it is Going, Gary Gygax says that the first and second printings of the original Dungeons & Dragons box set were 1000 copies each, and the third printing consisted of 2000 copies.
