From The Acaeum Wiki

October 11, 2010

Some features of the wiki stopped working back in November of last year, and it was no longer possible to search on Ebay with the auction tracker. The problems have now been resolved.

November 25, 2009

Thanks to FoulFoot for putting a link to the wiki on the subweb page. We have 1842 items and 4505 images.

The front page now displays the number of auction items that have been recorded in Auction Tracker, which is currently 1324. HermitFromPluto has been watching MERP auctions, and as a result we have impressive price data for MERP. If you follow auctions regularly on Ebay, consider using Auction Tracker for the good of the community. Lots of people would like to see price data for other game lines.

The new markup for magazine table of contents is documented. The goal of the markup is to create an index for all issues of a magazine without additional human effort. Also, the table of contents and the full index are in sortable tables.

The front page stats currently show us at 1273 item articles and 2776 images. HermitFromPluto created 63 MERP pages last month! Send him a cold Foster's when you get the chance.

Now you can use {{DnD}} and {{ADnD}} to create these links: D&D and AD&D.

If you are interested seeing auctions tracked on the wiki, please take a short survey.

Here are some new wiki features and a bug fix:

  • category intersections: <intersect> ... </intersect> and {{I| ... }}
  • {{DEFAULTSORTORDER: ... }} magic word
  • isbn attrribute in Printing template and {{Amazon| ... }} template
  • front page stats and user stats: <userstats> ...</userstats>
  • prevent ampersands in page names

You can find out more details in the forum.

A status report: we've made it up to 1032 item articles and 2030 images (396M).

September 27, 2008

Hello everyone,

there were lots of contributions this week: we are up to 628 item articles and 1209 images (265M), thanks in part to new contributors Deimos3428 (29 uploads) and Kersus (86 uploads).

The googlebot starting crawling the site last Friday, and on Thursday nine of our pages appeared in the search index, which is anemic, but that will improve over time. Getting good content up on the wiki will encourage people to link the site, which will improve our ranking. Adding good item descriptions with full sentences will also help.

We've also been crawled by the archive.org bot. I like archive.org because it keeps copies of websites as they were in the past, even after they are gone. The Acaeum has been up for 9 years and hopefully will be up for another 9 years, but it is good to know that if it does go away our efforts will be preserved. It takes archive.org about 6 months to put data that they've collected up.

Thanks to Badmike and Jkason for joining and contributing. We are up to 434 item articles (not counting shell pages or redirects) and 815 images (193M).

The {{C|...}} template was added as a shortcut for categorizing a page without creating a link to the category page. Both the {{CL|...}} and {{C|...}} templates will take sort order arguments as the 3rd and 2nd arguments, respectively. This allows you to control where the page you are categorizing appears in the category list. As an example, you can categorize The Adventure Begins as a member of Dungeon Crawl Classics with {{CL|Dungeon Crawl Classics||Adventure Begins, The}}. Grubbiv 15:44, 20 September 2008 (EDT)

September 14, 2008

368 articles, 691 images (167M).

Removed the the Issue template. Use the Printing template instead with the editor attribute. Added a pages in category (pagesincat) function for computing the numbers on the main page next to each game system, etc. These numbers are also available in the Companies, Games, Years, etc supercategory pages if you follow the link to show the number of items. Increased size of image on home page, and swapped the position of the periodicals and the companies. When making a gallery of thumbnails, you can use Image:Scan_needed.png for a missing item. September 5, 2008

196 articles, 339 images (88M). The front page was redone to have an image of the "game of the day" and box outlines were added. The Printing2 template has been deleted. The Printing template can be used with the image_back attribute. Some attributes (product_code, subtitle, setting) will not display if left empty. We started adding galleries of 4 images to the category pages of games and settings.

September 2, 2008

The wiki now sends out email, in case you forget your password. There are 127 articles, not counting redirects. 238 images have been uploaded, taking up up 59M of space.

August 31, 2008

The People page is now sorted by last name instead of first. To keep people sorted this way, each person's page should be tagged with a second argument specifying the sort order, e.g. [[Category:People|Schick, Lawrence]]

August 30, 2008

  • You can use the Printing2 template and image_back attribute for products with a front and back scan
  • Products with the ScanNeeded template are collected on the Category:Scan_Needed page
