City of Terrors is the first solitaire adventure outside of a dungeon. It is the first T&T product by Michael Stackpole, and it is the first T&T product to be saddle-stapled. It is larger than previous solitaire adventures, and the print run was larger too: 3000 copies, the first 300 of which were signed and numbered.1.
The first printing uses glossy paper, perhaps because the Sorcerer's Apprentice magazine was launched at about the same time. Later printings used a rougher grade of paper.
The first three printings are distinguished on the copyright page. In addition, the third printing has product code 8109 on the cover.
In Sorcerer's Apprentice 16, Michael Stackpole says the City of Terrors was his third submission for a solo.
