S&S falls somewhere between a Retro Clone game and a modern game design with "old school" sensibility. Specifically it re-represents the old "white box" or "brown box" D&D combined with even older school military miniatures like Chainmail and puts it into a cohesive and simple RPG system using the OGL. It doesn't actually present itself as a reproduction of another game, but a game in it's own right.
