Basic Role-Playing
A very simple, universal set of role-playing rules that form the basis of many of Chaosium's games. The system uses percentile dice with all actions being checked against a relevant (1-100) skill or ability value.

Basic Role-Playing, UK Edition

This version is believed to have been included in Games Workshop's 1980 RuneQuest boxed set.
Note that the text from page 14 (which is essentially identical to the 1981 Chaosium versions of BRP) does not smoothly flow into page 15, and how some of the similar passages on the two pages use different wording. This implies that Games Workshop rewrote and/or re-layed out some of the booklet, but apparently not all of that work was part of the finished product.
Although this version of BRP has a copyright date of 1980, it was probably published between Chaosium's 1981 2nd and 3rd editions of the rules. It contains some of the changes/errata that were incorporated into the 3rd edition, but still has some of the errors present in the 2nd edition.

Basic Role-Playing, Special Fantasy Paths Edition
|
|
This version was included with the Fantasy Paths boxed set from BCS Inc.
It is labeled as "Third Edition" on the cover, but it is missing a few errata fixes that the true Third Edition contains. (The Fantasy Paths edition still shows Fist starting percentage of 45% on p 7 and on the back cover in the vertical box.)

This version no longer hyphenates "Role-Playing" in the title.
Although this version calls itself "Third Edition" on the title page, Chaosium had already released a different "Third Edition" of BRP in 1981. The 2002 version's rules content is somewhat of a hybrid between the 1981 Second Edition and the 1981 Third Edition of the rules.
