Any chance of creating a blank space holder for the full "J" installment
Thunderhold Installment within the list of items Index by Code on "usability" grounds?

I was confused trying to figure out whether I had anything else extra there, since the first obvious link was to Booklet J and Ready Ref Chart J-5 and Thunderhold/Sunstone Cavern Map also initially confused since that page's header states "Map" not "Maps"

Don't think there's any more stuff here (beyond that extra "J-start" sheet), but I could supply better scans, anyhow.

Maps with "J" installment =
Page Not Found (single sided), plus
Thunderhold Map Judge &
Sunstone Caverns Map (double sided)

aside: Might be easier to read on Thunderhold/Sunstone Cavern Map if the single-sided player map was moved down one...

thx :)

Am I missing where the "K" map (Huberic) ended up on the listing?

(This is the one I previously didn't have, since I failed to win that installment in Keith's auctions; went to ~$17(?) whereas "M" was won for ~$8 ).

*sends scan, just in case* (paper stock is the approx. the same as the "J" maps).

The review in the Campaign Magazine #88 (From the auction you mentioned to me from which the seller provided scans of the pages) states the Huberic map coming with the Installment K.

#47: 'Approved for use with Dungeon & Dragons'
#48: 'Created for Dungeons & Dragons'
#52: 'Created for & Approved for use with Dungeons & Dragons'

Dragon Magazine #11 (Dec 1977) states Judges Guild is 'Creaters of Play Aids approved for use with Dungeons & Dragons'

Anything before Aug/Sep 1977 (Journal N having first instance of #47) having something stating similiar? (Approved, Created, etc)

Judges Guild Pens

Wondering if anyone has one or seen one of these..here is the blurb from someone who had some:

'I grew up about an hour from Decatur, IL, which was the home of Judges Guild. My parents used to give me rides there and sit in the parking lot while I would shop in their store. For a while, they handed out "free" pens for any purchase over $20. (Not much now, but back then $20 meant a lot of lawns mowed! Back then, an OD&D boxed set was $10.)

The pen said "Wand of Fantasy Gaming -- +5 vs. Boring Campaigns", if I remember correctly. At one point years ago I had a handful of these pens, but sadly they are all long lost.'

Ok all you JG fans, just picked up "The Book of Treasure Maps" #113 - 1979.  Is it worth anything?

Thanks.

    As a big-time colletor's item...no.

As an outstanding game supplement...hell yes.

Check out the haunted manorhouse (avoiding a spoiler here   ).  It is an excellent adventure.

It is almost certainly worth more than whatever you paid for it.  Did your copy come angle-chopped, with the cover chomped off to make the whole thing an accidental rhombus?

Thanks for the info.  I don't think the cover is askew, I'll have to check.

Love that "dorky" photo-real cover! Not too many modules like that...

I'll have to check it out.

I've always liked that cover.  Paul Jaquays is the tall guy in the armor.  What I really like is the two gamer girls, trying to find some sort of adventuring pose to strike.

I just bought/downloaded the Book of Treasure Maps #1 from Drivethrurpg.com. $2 - can't beat that, it's cheaper than shipping for most Ebay stuff. Plus, no clutter! The first two pages have a little bit of ugly wear on the copy they scanned, but the rest is fine and it's all certainly usuable, content-wise.

I like the look of it. Interior style/layout is reminiscent of Dark Tower (not suprising). Looked though it quickly, the content looks interesting.

I really like the Intellectual Flesh Golem who is obsessed with reading.

IF you want the information...as opposed to possession of the product...DrivethruRPG is the way to go.  I was just there, myself, contemplating All The Worlds Monsters II.

Alright time to discuss the new Judges Guild items that have shown themselves: Non yellow swamp City State Player Map, CSIO Pink Mailing Card and Initial Subscription Advert Card.

Course to the winner of those items..if you could PM me some scans and info that would be appreciated (when they arrive of course).

My thoughts on the Pink Mailing card is that it seems to be the same color as the 1st print Tac Cards Action cards..a sign it was first? I think its a possibility seeing as Judges Guild seems to stop using anything pink after the Tac Cards.

Initial Subscription card matches the Dragon #4 (Dec76) ad.. With the Sept 30th date to send it in by for the discount..this helps to put dates on #2 to #8.

The CS Player Map is the one I'm interested in to see if it is exactly like the Yellow swamp one (measurements/comments as I posted in another thread)..It looks identical but of course I need confirmation.

JOURNAL 15 (X) June/July 1979
What's coming up from JG. Well, first we have a lot more D&D and AD&D ® game-aids planned. We have received permission from the CHAOSium to do play-aids for Runequest and are tossing around sonic ideas for them. We have had some discussions with FGU, too, and are looking forward to doing several things for them. Also in the works are some playing aids for some of Lou Zocchi's games. City-State of the World Emperor is making progress (I'm sure that you'll he glad to hear that). There will be a second book of Villages soon, to supplement one of our bestselling playing aids: Village Book I Also a book of Castles is in the works. Along with Traveller we are working on some projects for En Garde for GDW. Many more goodies and surprises are in store for you. Some other titles to be watching for are Caverns of Thracia (ed: 102), Lurid Lairs (ed: 1000 never released), Star Ventures, Verbosh (ed: 108) and much, much more.

JOURNAL 16 (Y) August/September 1979
Lots of new things have come in and are now available through Judges Guild since the last issue. Lots of new products are being worked on, too. Shortly, you will be seeing the first of the HomeTown series from Bryan Hinnen. Also, the Village Book II (ed: 104) is coming along. A new space station dungeon for Traveller, Dra'k'ne, (ed: 105) should be ready shortly, also. Still being worked on are C-S of the World Emporer, Castles Book II, and several other items which include projects for Runequest (ed: first item 107), C&S (ed: only item 250), S&S, and SuperHero 2044 (ed: first item 430). We have, also, started talks with FBI for possible T&T projects in the future. Other game systems we are lining up projects for include En Garde by GDW. The first of our TRS-80 software sales games will be back from the cassette producer by the time you read this. If you have a TRS-60, you won't want to miss our new TREK-80 (ed: 100) which retails at $15 and can be used on any TRS-80 with 16K or more. By the way, if any of you know of any businesses with a 32K, 3-disk drive system or better, we will be marketing a business system for the TRS-80 which is better than any other we have seen or heard about. Have them contact us for details.

HomeTown series later known as the Wilderness Series
111          Mines of Custalcon (Wilderness Book 1 of 5) 1979
270         Spies of Lightelf (Wilderness Book 2 of 5) 1980
1010         Shield Maidens of Sea Rune (Wilderness Book 3 of 5)
1030         Pirates of Hagrost (Wilderness Book 4 of 5)
1090         Witches Court Marshes (Wilderness Book 5 of 5)

Question:
What company is FGU?
What Company is S&S?
Was Star Ventures renamed or never materialized?
