For the Dungeons & Dragons game, set in the world of Mystara. The Gazetteers are "mini campaign sets" detailing specific cultures, including new spells, NPCs, locations, etc.
Dawn of the Emperors is a boxed campaign set, produced just before the release of 2nd Edition AD&D in 1989 (it bears a "compatible with the AD&D and 2nd Edition AD&D rules" starburst). It contains a 128-page DMs Guide, two 32-page Player's Guides (one for each empire), and two full-size maps. The early working title for this set was "Twilight of the Empires" (thanks to Richard van Tol for this info). Pre-production scans of GAZ9 Minrothad Guilds, GAZ10 Orcs of Thar, and GAZ14 Atruaghin Clans can be accessed through these links. None were actually printed (thanks to Richard van Tol for all three scans). GAZ13 Shadow Elves has been placed online by TSR (in a modified format), and is available in our Library section. Large maps of the Known World of Mystara can be found in TM1 Western Countries and TM2 Eastern Countries.
There are no distinguishable prints for any of these supplements,
other than a very minor difference for GAZ1.
Thanks to Dominique Lacrouts for the scan of GAZ 11, Adrian Newman for scans of GAZ 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 10, 14, and Dawn of the Emperors, and to
Richard van Tol for scans of GAZ 5 and 12.
Some of the Gazetteers appear to be more popular than others; as far as we know, print runs were fairly equitable. Values across the board have been generally rising, however.
