Back in November, stratochamp won Bill Owen's auction for the last surviving, oldest original blueprint of the City State of the Invincible Overlord.  He recently got it framed, and asked me to post some pictures.  So, here goes.

There is some damage to the map, as you can see in this picture.

This last one is my favorite.  Check out the reference to this being "no-name city" in Middle Earth.

Bill did a very nice job framing this piece.  Well done.  Love the richness of the burgandy and gold.

That is a big freaking picture. I have one of the black and white copies and it won't fit on my gaming table.

I can see the missing spot where someone put down their coffee mug (or however it got torn).

thank you Bracton for posting the pictures. i too was very pleased with the framing job that was done. i told the owner i wanted no adhesives on the map, so the four corners are resting inside triangular cups to support the map and then the matting and the backing boards are glued together (rather than to the map). i told him i have no intention of ever opening it up again in my lifetime, but i wanted no damage to the map at all. we were originally thinking that it was going to be hanging in our finished basement, so we decided to go with archival plexiglass as opposed to museum glass, so that if it was knocked off the wall by one of our children it wouldn't kill them. however after seeing how large it is framed, and what a good job the framers did, we've decided to hang it in the living room, opposite the frp wall.

The pictures themselves are outstanding documentary evidence.

Thanks for posting them.  :thumright:
