I have just recently pulled this old book out of storage and determined that I am willing to part with it.  I am auctioning the book on EBAY but could really use assistance.

I need someone to help me value this book properly.

This is the rare 2nd print Beta with the inserted Monster Manual pages.

I bought it the day it got to the gaming store in King of Prussia PA, early in 1979.

I never even heard about the recall until much later, and used the book extensively those first few years.

Please help if you can.

Thanks.

JD,

Here's the honest deal . . . no one is exactly sure of the value as there haven't really been any confirmed sales before.    However, I guarantee you that everyone who is interested in this item knows about it already (or will within a day or two).

You're going to get a good price for this, I think.  All you need to do is let the auction run it's course (to the very last second!).  Answer all questions you receive about the condition and, please, try to provide some more scans of the book (front cover at the very least!).

You've probably received some private offers and that makes you question the value even more . . . my advice is to politely turn these offers down.  Since you have no real idea of the value and not much knowledge of high end RPG items, you're best bet is to trust the ebay auction system.

Just be patient and everything will work out fine in the end.  (By the way, you stand to greatly increase your market if you will ship internationally.  There are many ways to do this safely and insure it's value to protect yourself).

Seems like this thread was started in two different forums.  Here's the current one from Collecting Appraisal:

I'm sure private offers for $100 or so have already been made.

Hope not.  Guys, lets try to avoid a fiasco for once.  The thing has bids on eBay already, quit trying to score it cheap on the side.

He's a man who knows a true rare item......I predicted at least $1000 on this, and I was way off...there just aren't many of these around, we've seen about ten woodgrains since one of these has been auctioned.

I'm going to predict this will bring other copies out into the light...that final price has to get people thinking who might have a copy tucked away....

Add to that prediction that Wizard Logo DMG's for sale on EBay from uninformed Sellers also start getting snatched up, in the hopes of finding that Holy Grail...talk about your Fun Finds!
