Hi All,

Have been very quiet as I'm in the process of moving country! Will update my situation in a couple of weeks. But will be looking for some help with the site. If anyone is interested and has experience in MediaWiki let me know.

Good luck on the move. Just moving a couple of towns over or crossing a county line is a PITA, but moving everything you own to another country?
Well, let's just say I wouldn't do it.
Again, hope everything goes smooth.

Dave, get the barbarian in the corner a drink, quick!

Hi. Just sent you a PM.

Moving is complete. I am now living in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (moving the family was a much more challenging exercise than I had envisaged!). Should get into a more routine life for a while now. Perhaps I should try to write a Central Asian themed module!

Would love to see more central asian themed modules! I love The Horde setting and wish there were more material for it! Hope Tashkent is an adventure :)

I get a 403 error trying to go to http://wiki.acaeum.com/

Has the URL changed, or is it just down right now?

It's still down. I volunteered to try to help bring it back up, but haven't been able to find the time. Maybe over the Christmas holidays :)

What's needed to bring it back?

Mostly, someone with strong MySQL database skills.  The database is intact, but has large amounts of erroneous data that will need to be "pruned" out.  I believe that's all that is needed.

As of tonight, the Wiki has been restored:

The Acaeum Wiki

Special thanks to Arnaud for providing a valuable clue in getting things right.

What's not right: a lot. While the database appears to be okay, there's some random junk sprinkled around, that will probably take some elbow grease to iron out.  Everyone's wiki user account *should* be just fine, but I imagine everyone's forgotten their passwords.  I'll PM HermitFromPluto to see if he has any time to help out.

The biggest problem is that all the images (item scans/thumbnails) were lost.  I haven't checked to see if any of the past admins kept backups, but absent that, stuff will need to be re-uploaded.  My sincere apologies for that.

I also apologize for this Wiki being down for almost four years now.  I'd pretty much given up hope in restoring it, but decided to knuckle down tonight and try one more time.  It took five hours, but it's up.  As I was the one who originally broke it (by upgrading the underpinning server software), I felt responsible for fixing it.

Tired now -- headed to bed.  More to come.

(Just sent you a PM Foul)

Great news (and a nice subject for my 2000th post!). I am still around and active. But my work has become insane and I travel all the time. Heading off on my last work trip for the year shortly and back on 14 December. I believe I have a good deal of the images backed up, so I'll check when I get back. Will be nice to work on this again!!!

Alas, I do not have the photos I did back then (four years already!?!).

I'll have to check on what I do have left to make new scans when I can.

Assuming I can remember my password as well.

If anyone has password issues, let me know, and I'll reinstate you.  The username database needs a healthy purging, too; there's several thousand bot-registrations in there.  :(

Scott---

Apparently I don't have an account; should I try to register or is it easier for you to create one?
Allan.

Try and make a new account first, using your forum username.  Password can be same or different; doesn't matter.
