For Sale: Gygax Original Manuscript

25,000 $US

Isle of the Ape, Gary's final AD&D product, 1985

This is the complete manuscript that he personally typed, 102 pg. One can easily see the indentations made by Gary's typewriter keys on all pages. There are a few of his handwritten notations and corrections.

With period photocopies: 1 pg Character Summary and 60 pg creatures & maps. (Gary ALWAYS kept his hand-made maps and had his secretary make color copies if necessary.)

Photos: It's 163 pages of paper, nothing two-sided. Excellent condition, preserved carefully since 1985. Photos available on serious request.

Selling for medical reasons.

My friends Dave & Gary made a quantum leap in the human soul. Remember them.

History

Gary discarded almost all his manuscripts. We believe that G1, G2, G3, D1, D2, D3, T1, Q1, and B2 are gone. (I found T2 and returned it to Gary.)

In the early 1980s TSR gave me Salvage Rights. A written document signed by their VP (Mike Cook, Publisher) gave me the legal right to their trash. (I got this in connection to a huge Random House return. I took a lot of it and resold most over the years.)

I also did some dumpster diving, and acquired various files from the Production Dept. There was a lot, and I didn't examine it, just grabbed.
Much later it turned out that some of that dumpster trash came from Gary's office. This is one of several handwritten or typed items that I recovered.
