I've got a box load of Car Wars stuff, additional add-on sets, supplements and 'zines, Truck Wars, map sheets, an arena map sheet IIRC. Probably some 40-50 items. This is a game I always liked the idea of, ever since the little plastic box from Steve Jackson came out. But I could never get anyone to play it, and it's overly complicated for what it is (or atleast appears to be).

The stuff weights maybe 4kg. I'm wondering whether there are any things from Car Wars that is worth anything more than the usual $5 or so, or whether I just sell the whole lot as a job lot (in which case I'm cutting out international buyers on grounds of weight).

Again, this stuff seems to have a very limited market and little interest. Either that of eBay's new and improved search tools are FoS. In both cases (Battletech and Car Wars), I suspect the latter is probably the case.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

There are a few Car Wars items that sell better than others.  By far the most valuable item is "Uncle Albert's Catalog from Hell" which compiles just about everything - it can sometimes hit $100 itself.  The other one that can get a bit more cash is Dueltrack.

A lot of the little boxes and expansions like Truck Stop, etc can get $10-$15 by themselves.  The early ADQ magazines used to do pretty well but I haven't watched them lately.

We played a fair bit of car wars.  Its a fun game but most of the time was spent building your car.

I don't know how to price Car Wars stuff for you either... and had a similar experience as you.. great game that no one wanted to play.

Still, if/when you get around to selling make sure you let me know.

I collect the game, even if I can't play it.

Is it one of those games you can't play solo at all?

You could build two cars and battle yourself but it would be tough to hide your strategy from yourself.

Anyone remember Mini Car Wars?

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/ ... i-car-wars

I ordered it from an ad in DRAGON...it was $1.

I sold my other Car Wars games but I still have this one. Sort of like the quickstart rules they release these days on Free RPG day.

I bought one of these the other day....for less than a dollar!  (fools)

Mini Car Wars was possibly the best gaming value ever published.  Hours of fun in that little box.  It also led to my buying into the rest of the boxed Car Wars line.

My gaming group...and some friends who were not active gamers...got hours and hours of fun out of this game.

top price is definately the catalogue from hell.

the compendium also will fetch OK money and any shrink boxed sets will as well.

the ADQ's vary ... the first four do carry a premium and there seem to be a few rare editions (sorry can't recall).

the chapter books can be quite hard to get hold of if you've any of those.

Car Wars is one of those games that just screams for a computer version to handle all the number crunching and obscure modifiers that no one can remember.

Has anyone ever made one? (official or just a crude, unlicensed app)

(apologies for the tangent)

There might be some games that use the car wars mechanics.  Old games like Tradewars 2000 seemed to implement something very similar.

I'm pretty sure I have the original plastic CW box in shrinkwrap. It was a spare. Definately got the compendium. Don't have the catalog from hell. I'll need to dig through my boxes and sert them out.

Wow. Thanks for the prices.
I think I'll list all my stuff individually and just see where they go.
I have no real attachment to the stuff 'cos I never really managed to get a decent game out of it.
Hopefully the CW crowd are not the same as the D&D crowd, because I want to list my JG stuff too. Wouldn't want them to conflict.

I believe I also have a run of 6 Car Wars comics. I think there were only 6 in the series.

Maybe only 4. I think I have a full set. Definately US comic book size comics. Not seen the on eBay before, but then I don't watch this stuff on eBay. Most things seem to sell for $0.99 ATM.
