Why so much for this lot? (Grodog, you seemed to really want it). I assume it is because of the Serpent Islands (which I am not familiar with).
It was worth it to me for awhile, but I got a little carried away toward the end, and stopped, quite likely just in time, too. I was interested in three of the books in the lot: Realms of Horror, Gargoyle, and The Serpent Islands, and would have traded/resold the rest. I figured SI alone would go for $25-ish, and I've seen
S1-4 and G go for a up to $20-30-ish. In any event, I'm glad I backed down.
As for Serpent Isles, It looked interesting to me only because I'd never seen one before... just when you think you at least know about everything you find some regional or small publisher that had some cool stuff you never saw before. This is a lot more interesting hobby than coin collecting for that very reason!
Heh, I gave up coins ages ago too, Jon. I thought it looked cool, figured if I could get it and the rest for $25 or so, that it would be worth it. I'll try again at GenCon
