I just got my hands on a D&DG 2nd printing (1980). It has the Cthulhu and Melnibonean entries, with the "Special Thanks to Chaosism" on the acknowledgments page. I'd say condition is fair... there's an unfortunate kool-aid stain right across Cthulu's face and someone used blue pen to color in the wizard logo on the front cover. Otherwise, the binding is sound and the covers have the expected amount of shelf/corner wear for a 30-year-old book.

Any idea what this bad boy is worth? I defer to the experts. It'll likely go up on eBay next week, when I post a bunch of books that have just been taking up shelf space.

Thanks in advance!

JB

I just bought one in nicer shape for $10.  If you find the right buyer, who still thinks that Deities w/Cthulhu is "rare", then you could get $50+.  This one is all over the map.

$10 is not the norm by any stretch of the imagination. Typically, good condition books run around $20-30. Considering the condition of your book, I would guess a $15-20 is most likely in the range.

Excellent condition books now rarely go for $50+ but typically sell for much less.

The days of $50+ for  these books is gone. They tend to average out around $35 +/- $8.

All that said, the "air" or rarity still surrounds this book. And I guess it is somewhat deserved. It is harder to find that its contemporary hard cover first edition brothers.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

Of course - that's why I grabbed it.

I just wanted to point out that pricing on this one seems to be a bit more scattered than most items.

I paid $20 for this one, since all I knew about it was the "Ooooohhh Cthulhu!" mystery factor that surrounded it. Frankly, I figured it would be worth more based on stories I'd heard. That's why I came to the experts!

If I only stand to make a couple of bucks (if that) on it, maybe I'll hold onto it and get rid of my other copy instead.

Thanks again, guys!
