I am the "idiot" that paid the $382.00 for this MIB TSR Display with a shrink copy of the game.

Here is what it looks like assembled, and I added another shrink wrapped version to it....

This will look awesome at the Con with some various "old school" stuff sitting on it for sale :)

Thanks for sharing the hi-res pics! Nice touch with the Basic sets. I think that's the coolest TSR collectible. From the era when TSR wasn't afraid to advertise using demon heads. I can't imagine a better use than sales display at an old-school con.

Here is the box it came in, and a close up of the date on the box... looks like 1980, so not sure the actual year this was used

The TSR Face Logo was used from ~80-82, so this display is surely from that time period. I'm not sure if the date in the Face Logo changed or not.

Does anyone know if there was ever a freestanding floor version of this display? I've seen the Holmes Basic cardboard display featured in the print ad with EGG's daughter, but was wondering if there was B/X or AD&D floor display from 1980 - 1983ish similar to the one pictured above. I seem to recall one (and would love to have one), but I'm far from certain.

Yes:

The ad here has a date of 1982 (the Face Logo in the ad still sports a 1980 date). This is from a Games Retailer magazine, scan courtesy Acaeum member Alexander1968.

the date with the logo is definitely not when they were created/used. I'm sure that was a typo on the early key art of the face logo. I think the point of purchase merchandisers were created either towards the end of 1981 or early 1982.

Very pretty, Doug (even though I need a higher screen resolution!). Would've been even better if you'd picked up a stack of modules at the same time? :)

*nods* 1980 is the (c)/tm date for the logo; as can be seen on the back of the belt buckles, too.
