Apologies if this is an obvious one, but I have/had a red D&D paperbook rule book, that was of normal novel paperback size.

I can't seem to find anything on ebay to compare it to as there tends to be the usual A4 thin rule sets etc.

I'm guessing it's as common as a common thing, but maybe it's a rare as rocking horse sh**

Its a UK item so its harder to find but they do show up.  In general used condition it's probably worth about $25-$40

From discussions elsewhere I believe that this was a UK only release (or at least a non-US release).  "." mentioned (on Dragonsfoot?) that they sell for quite a bit in good condition.

If you have one, it's probably worth quite a bit on this side of the pond.

Scroll down until you get to the 5th printing.  Mars' valuation is spot on.

That would not help me in the slightest, since I won't be going to GenCon. Unless, they give the item to someone else to ship.

Excellent thats the one exactly! I'm going hunting for that now, as I know its here somewhere...

It was in really good condition, although I haven't seen it for a couple of years.

I will post back on this thread when I find it and I will be open to offers, as it doesn't hold any sentimental value to me...  :)

Even in the UK it didn't sell very well at time of publishing. It was also released in Australia I believe, and the the three mint condition copies I managed to find were with an Australian bookstore in their dead stock. I was selling mint condition copies at £24.95 or £29.95 a copy IIRC, and they went in days. I only have 1 remaining copy, and it's in near mint condition, but has a library stamp and bookplate in it. The bookplate indicates it was never even withdrawn.

They are very rare, and a real gem if you predominaitly write low level campaign materials. Much easier to navigate than the full size books, and of course both books are in the one volume with this edition.

$25-40 in good condition.
A mint copy should probably fetch upwards of $50.
This is one of those things you won't find many people parting with. A paperback book you can run an entire campaign world from.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . minestrone soup.

An ISBN search on Amazon.co.uk sometimes gets results with this. Have seen them as low as £10 in used condition, but they don't turn up very often.

I'm going to dig this out, as I did find it very good to use and read through when I first owned. I picked it up second hand myself and it may well have been a library copy as well, so there may be a coverplate or library leaf

Although this may have been removed. I'm guessing that would affect the good price, but still makes it something a little rare and worthwhile I guess!

I'm not sure at the moment where my copy is but I think it is an ex-library copy as well.  I paid about $22-25 for it off of Ebay.

Adrian Newman had one of these at the convention this past weekend:  I hadn't seen it before either.

Unfortunately I've not yet found it amongst all my books, but I am still looking...

As soon as its found, I'll stick up a pic and give a few more details on condition, printing etc and see if anyone wants to give it a new loving home  :D

Rather a large *BUMP* but I've finally found this.

It is in ok condition but with yellowing of the ends of the pages.

If anyone is still looking for one, PM me and I can link some pics.

EDIT - Having now had a good look at this, (I am not as excited as I was when I found it) iit does not look its best. However, it can go to a good home on a small value trade if anyone wants? I can still link pics for anyone interested.

Cheers
Dave

Thought it best to add some pics  :?   Don't know what condition this qualifies as, but it would appear to be rare in the US, so there's a copy here for someone!
