I have a copy of White Bear and Red Moon that I plan to sell.
Anyone want to offer a guess as to the value?
Please see the pictures I have posted of the contents of the game through the link below.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and help.

It does look nice.

I don't follow these sets regularly, but I'm going to guess around $100 - $150, give or take.  The mailer is a nice bonus.

$100 would be very disappointing compared with grubbiv's late last year:

Dude... do you have a doppelganger? ;)

Might be better not to use "unpunched" in the description in case someone fails to read however you phrase "cut into strips". Better than most, however, and rare with the mailer. On the (even more) plus side, you might as well list as "1st edition (print run of 800)" since there's no preference on the color of mailers. Where did you read that the first print was "baggie only" since I don't think Greg ever said that.

Best wishes for the sale,
David.

p.s. CHAOSium. Easy to remember!

I thought I had read that on his web site.

Allow me to do the footwork. :)
(Was worthwhile checking around as a few new snippets have been added in various places).

=> http://www.weareallus.com/chaosium/boardgames.html
"The first edition of the game had a rule book of 8½" x 11", was in a printed manila or white paper envelope, and had thin, die-cut counters"
(2e) "Also, I upgraded the container to be a resealable zip lock bag instead of paper envelope"

"Mailer" should really go in quotes, anyhow, since it was rarely (if ever?) actually used as such.

The auction listing above might've given the impression that a ziploc was standard with the first edition, perhaps, since nothing further was stated in the auction listing.

Thanks much David.

You dug deep to get that old thread.
I had totally forgotten about the thread.
Of course the links to the listings are long gone and cannot be retreived, or can they?!

I did not recall exactly how much I paid for either one back then, just knew it was around $200-250 for WBaRM, give or take a bit.
And something over $100 for the EotPT First Print Box Set.

So when Stephen posted his thoughts of a likely price I was a bit shocked.

I thought about deleting my ad to wait another few years, but now I have a better idea of a possible current price range.

No probs on the links and no dice on that, I'm afraid: in general it's save 'em or lose 'em.

Gut feeling is that the bidding might be a little bit softer now but I've been proven wrong before on early Chaosium and they don't appear that often. Of course it helped push the prices up when Greg himself kept outbidding me (even for the /pieces/ of games I needed for completion :)) and anyone else looking to get in at a "reasonable price".

For what it's worth, Lance picked his up for $260.55 last June - not that that stops him from bidding on a second copy - but I know it's not just him and Kynan in that particular marketplace towards the higher end.

The Google cache may have the auctions, though that is definitely hit-and-miss.

I have started capturing some finished auction pages in PDF form.  I use a program (Bullzip PDF Printer) that acts like a printer driver.  I print to it as I would print to a normal printer, except I end up with a PDF instead of a piece of paper.

Of course, this only helps if one knows that one wants a record of an auction and can still find the auction page.

Yeah.
These days I save a copy of anything I sell, and the more expensive, or rare items I might buy also.

However, I do it this way.
Go to the page (Just before, or right after the listing is over).
Click on Printer Version.
Highlight it all and do a copy/paste to MSWORD....

Thats it.

When I do that in the regular auction listing (Not the printer version) my computer usually forgets what MSWord is and wont open it at all, unless I reboot the computer.
