I think stormber sold the DCS Paladin in Hell illustration in one of his Collector's Trove auctions for DCS.  It went for a pretty reasonable price compared to what it would probably fetch today.  I don't recall who won it either.  I believe stormber still has the DMG cover painting.  It would easily top $10,000 if he decided to auction it.

I may chip in to the retirement fund for that one.

Yeah, I think quite a few of us would, it's certainly a holy grail for me and I'm sure for many others.   :D

The Monster Manual cover is our Holy Grail. Although, we would have to come up with some extra cash if any old covers like this hit Ebay.

The original DCS one?  I seem to remember DCS talking about it before stormber's auctions of his stuff.  I think he gave it away because he actually didn't like it.
The Easley Monstrous Manual cover is on eBay now for only a $1,500 opening bid.

The Easley Monsrous Manual cover was listed on Worlds of Wonder for around $1250 not long ago.

From what I have heard Gary Gygax has the Monster Manual cover(not confirmed).

And I believe Gygax has the Trampier PHB cover as well.  If those ever get put on the auction block, there will be a frenzy.   :D

Nope - I know who owns the DCS MM cover, and it's not Gygax. It's also definitively NFS . . . .
