I was trying to fill in a couple blanks in my original Traveller collection, when I saw an eBay auction for Traveller Book 8: Robots (GDW) go for $60.  I was kinda shocked, as I was thinking I would get it for under $10.  lol  Anyway, my question is... am I out of the loop?  Is this book rarer than I thought, or was this a bizarre price that this went for?  How much should I expect to pay for a copy?

Thanks in advance.  :D

Hey Kat.  Book 8: Robots, IIRC, had the lowest number of copies printed of all the GDW Traveller supplements.  There are a couple of threads around these parts with exact numbers if you want to search for them.  So in answer to your question, it is pretty rare.  But IMHO, $60 is about double what I would have expected it to go for...especially in that condition.

Book 7: Merchant Prince is also fairly rare and will fetch a higher than normal amount than most of the other GDW Traveller books.  Just so happens I still need that one to complete my Traveller collection and was just outbid on one from the same seller.  But it at least went for about what I expected it to ($19.50).

You should be able to get a copy of Robots on Ebay for around $20 - $30 if you are patient.  Or if you can manage to get to GenCon you might be able to grab one for a lot less than that.  I picked up mine last year from Crazy Egor for $8.  :D

would have guessed $20-30 is good target as well. is known to be scarce + demand high for core book

Thanks for the confirmation that $60 seemed high.  lol  It just seemed a bit much.  Also, thanks for the information on the low print-run.  That helps explain why the price might be in the $30-ish range.  I'll keep my eyes peeled for another copy at a better price.  ;)

Kingofpain89, I was also going for that Merchant Prince book, but I was outbid, as well.  ;)

This information is valuable to me.  It will definitely help me gauge what to expect to pay for these books.  ;)  Thanks again, guys.
