After seeing an auction with quite a number of SW items go for some pretty good prices, I am curious what this is worth now in today's market.  It was purchased in 2002 and has been out of sight ever since.  I am terrible at searching with Ebay so can anyone please tell me the last time one like this came up for auction?

Thanks in advance.

It was about 3 or 4 years ago, if I recall correctly.  Around $1700-$1900, I think, though it didn't look like the cover was in such nice condition as yours.

Why, are you considering selling?   :D

I'd be willing to bet that if you offered it for private sale on Acaeum (closed bids), you'd get at least $2K for it. On RPG Marketplace with a link placed on Acaeum, you'd still get the dedicated collectors and probably a higher prive. Maybe beat the all time high for a non-unique item. It would certainly be well worth watching.

So do you have one? I've seen that picture before.

It would top 2K easily. It's probably rarer than a woodie.

Well, I'd go to 2K without thinking about it. Beyond that it's anyone's guess.

Brette, do you still have your copy?  If Scott {Foul} still has his, that makes three.

There's got to be more....a box somewhere will be found that is full of these.  (The evil inside me hopes not  )

Wasn't  there a bunch of old Tamoachan mods that were found in a hobby shop basement or something?

4 times... and one of those may be a resale?? so maybe 3(4?) with a cover on so far in existance?? There have been quite a few coverless up for sale .. usually 2-3 a year.. the covered version I have been on the lookout for and the 4 listed here are about it I think... I wish there was more of these around, even more woodies than that (in the last month;)..

One of the thoughts from that thread suggests that the cover authenticates the item.  IMHO, the cover does just the opposite.

I was wondering if anyone has dug up the details on why so few copies were issued with the cover or if someone working for TSR has ever verified that TSR actually issued them at all?  I don't remember the 3 or 4 auctions from 2002, just the maxwell auction - and from what I remember he wasn't exactly a credible seller.

As it stands this seems to be the most rare of all D&D items (rarer than any tournament module, prepub, woodgrain set, etc) and in comparison it is not that old.

I remember the 4 Jades. They went around $800 each or so IIRC.

agree more inhouse use only to cover tsr back on product. maxwell sale was of internal tsr copy never sold to public
uncovered is the real deal for public in acaeum scope

not as rare as oz g+d complete in shrink guess $2k give or take. if had choice will take those in two seconds and leave jade hare cover to completist list tickers :) :) nice to have perhaps but not that nice personally. filed under same category as acaeum preproduction woodie ;>
someone still will pay plenty $$$ am sure
