I agree that storage in a place where temperature changes are significant, accelerates the oxidation process.

Most of this collection was stored in plastic totes in an "outbuilding" that didn't seem to be heated, so my guess is that there was a lot of fluctuation of temperatures in a largely uncontrolled environment.

I could post pictures if anyone's interested.
