I'm interested in making an offer on this lot ... yes, I'm after the Cosmic Encounter aliens. :)

Spartan mags

I'm not at all familiar with the publication, though. Anyone collect Spartan? Any ideas on a fair offer? I was thinking $20 to $30.

Thanks in advance.

An offer?

If you hit a Rowsdower, you get to keep it.

I'm thinking of floating a BIN price to the seller, if he's interested in ending the listing early. I just have no idea what the heck Spartan is ... never heard of it.

But we needs them aliens ... preciousssssss.

The original printing of The Complete Warlock by Balboa Games appeared in Spartan magazine - that's the only issue I have.  I think I paid about $5 for it but have seen other copies of this sell for upto $25-$30.

Thanks for the info. ... and it looks like I'll be bidding the "normal" way now. The seller already has four bids; I'm not really comfortable trying to cut everyone off at the knees with a BIN offer.

Of course, by "normal" bidding, I mean "sniping with roughly four seconds remaining."

Issue 9 would that be? How many pages does that cover? Amy chance of a cover scan to complete my Balboa listing?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

This lot is getting some love from the propeller-heads over at the Cosmic Encounter forums, too ... it looks like it will attract more than a few bids. :)

BTW, wargaming fans, the seller has quite a few interesting lots listed. Lots of older magazines, some unpunched games, etc.

This was sort of the big wargaming club zine of the West Coast. Sort of parallel to IFW in a way and a bit competitive if memory serves. I also have the Warlock issue. Great stuff.

I find it interesting that the development of Warlock parallels that of the 3 volume set.  The article in Spartan #9 makes reference to Hobbits and then the later printing of Complete Warlock has Haflings.

Well, it's costing me $79 to find out the answer to my original question. :)

My precioussssss

FWIW, I'm sure I'll keep the Cosmic Encounter issue and resell the other two. I'll make a Classifieds post when that happens, if anyone is interested.
