hi there! i've found in a shop in my town a mini-boxed set: it is just like the 1st/3rd edition of the expert set but its size is just like the AD&D mini-booklet you can easily find on ebay...

what's your opinion on it? do you think is smtg rare or not?

tnx and ciao

Not sure about rare, but I've been wanting to add those types of books to my collection ever since I found out about them.

Not sure how rare they are but they are just kinda cool to own. If they are not too expensive I would think picking it up would be a good idea. If nothing else throw it in a drawer somewhere for 10 or 15 years and see if the gamble paid off.

These are moderately rare, some more so than others.  The Cook Expert set and Elminster's Ecologies seem to crop up on Ebay rather frequently, the others much less so.  They seem to go in to $10-$20 range for Fine+ condition, although Elminster's Ecologies has been on EBay almost continually for something like $3.

There was a lot with the PHB and DMG that ended last night (2nd covers). Frank had been bidding on them so I did not want to point them out. I did bid on them though...ended up loasing to someone I did not recognize. The pair went for $9.50 and $1.00 shipping.

Just confirming that they have been going for about $10.00 to $15.00 each since they first were available.  They don't seem to come up as often in the last couple of years.  Most are probably sitting in collector's hoards...

Man! What kind of critera do you use for your search on these? D&D Mini's get's you nowhere! :) I can't recall the publisher on these. I know they were Italian based.

Thanx!

I think they were produced or distributed by Twenty-First Century Games, now defunct?  There were a couple of threads that discussed them at one time.

Here's a couple links:

Probably best to search by the product name and add "mini*"

Noble Knight Games has some of them available:

Just luck finding them sometimes. I think that is the reason sometimes the ones you don't see that often go cheap. I really think the ones last night were a good deal. Just did't want to spend real money on them.

When I was chasing down a complete set, I had some luck with using the item name combined with words such as "tiny," "mini," "miniature," etc.

NobleKnight lists them as "reprints in miniature," which is about as good of a description as any. :)

Very hit-and-miss, though: I once bought six in one day from a single seller, then waited months and months before finally seeing some of the items I was missing.

many tnx... i gave a glance to what noble knights offers but it's everything related to AD&D... i was referring to the D&D xpert set...

that's the point: while it's more or less easy to find out some AD&D mini, i wonder how difficult is to find a D&D mini...

I got my mini D&D Expert set from Noble Knight back in May for $15 in shrinkwrap.  I'm pretty sure there was an opened one on Ebay within the last month or two.

Ciao aia,

Condition is not perfect but it's a fair price.   That set does not seem to come up as often.

Oh, my daughters first names spell out CIAO.

An Italian thing...
