just a simple question that requires, i suppose, a complex reply?

what are the best means to appraise correctly an item of 2nd edition related to a particular setting?

are there any sites that works as acaeum works for early printings?

do you rely on your knowledge?



...this is smthing that created me a lot of problems in the past on ebay...



just as an example, but i heard that vecna reborn is uncommon to find (if not properly rare!)... but what is its estimated value (obvoiusly according to its conditions)?



an other example: what about players secrets of of hogunmark? afaik only a pre-publication has been issued (just before TSR had been bought by WOTC)... then it should be a rare item, isn't it? but what is its value?

yes its birthright. you only see it crop up prb no more than 2-3 times a year (well in the last year its been that many - 3) - i got one for about $25 which i thought was quite a good price, as they normally go for more than that, but you do see a stray one get under the radar.

The Complete Sha'ir's handbook tends to go for around $10-15.  Though if you are patient, you will certainly find a deal around the $5 mark and every so often someone way overpays.

The reason is the same as with the Gladiator's handbook and Spacefarer's handbook . . . they are useful guides to expanding on Player Character classes and there is always a great deal of  interest in PC expansion options (just ask WotC    )

I try to be a pretty nice guy    , but maybe some others with more lashing tongues can give an opinion of this seller's auction.



I'll just say, that this is a rip-off and very deceitful auction description.  The Book of Regency of Legacy of Kings are both free PDF files that are downloadable from the Wizards of the Coast web site.  Apparently, the seller has "printed" them out himself    and neglected to mention this . . .
