Designed and illustrated by Tom Wham ... a very light-hearted look at many of the dungeon-crawling genre's cliches.

TW stated in an interview once (or maybe more than once) that games like MM and Search for the Emporer's Treasure were just (paraphrasing) "every D&D thing I could think of, boiled down to a few simple rules."

NIPI was originally going to do Mertwig's, but of course we folded first and Tom sold it to TSR.

I may have original NIPI production plans for that around here somewhere in my files...

It is what it is, DL ... it's a little heavy on the cutesy stuff for many people. I've always had a soft spot for it and Search for the Emperor's Treasure, and Tom Wham's stuff in general. I like the whimsical nature of his work.

Oh, c'mon, it's a bit better than that! I'll grant you, it ain't Axis & Allies, but it is fun! And if you expect anything "serious" give your head a shake! Another game that is funny but a bit more, strategic, shall we say is the"Great Khan Game". Tons of fun, that is ! :)

yeah i agree. i only really had the time to play it with friends just the once, but it was played ina  light-hearted way and we all had a blast playing it. if you treat it the same as the other D&D mods etc, you will come up short, as really, its an item on its own from that perspective. i like it.

Tom Wham fans should be sure to hit TomWham.com. He's a friend of mine and extremely generous, gives out autographs with free artwork added all the time, and sells custom art for a pittance. I keep trying to tone him down and make him a bit rarer (and thus bring in a bit more money), but he's not motivated by money.

And he's over 60 and always comes to the GenCon auction for a bit. Get his work and his generosity while you can.

Unusual nowadays in the RPG world. What is he thinking?

And by the way, that AVATAR at the top looks just about right if you use that reversed-binoculars trick I mentioned earlier.
