At both Origins and GenCon this year (2012), a copy of Zocchi's
Superhero 2044 came up. In each case it was the first Zocchi printing.
However, the actual first print of the work -- then titled
Superhero 44 -- was published by Donald Saxman (the designer) before Lou purchased and renamed it in 1977. The True First has a black & white cover and spiral comb binding, and apparently 250 copies were made.
At GenCon we incorrectly named Zocchi's 1st print as the True First, which it was not. The auction apologizes for the error.
