Any idea what a Good to Excellent copy of "SUPERHERO 2044" might be worth? I have the JG Hazard Supplement too (but I know that is a common Ebay cheapie...)

There have been at least one and perhaps two up in the last few months on eBay IIRC. I have thought about placing a bid just to see if I get lucky and get it cheap but have never bothered. I do not recall exactly what they have gone for though. It seems that it was a fair price but not a great price (seller wise). I was not able to find the closed auctions when I looked.

What print is it?  Is it a first print coil bound version? or the more mass produced colour covered stapled book?

The "mass produced" version, staple bound.  Didn't know there was a coil bound version, learned something new today! :D

Staple bound, $15-20 in nice condition; possibly a touch higher.

::cast raise thread spell::

At both Origins and GenCon this year (2012), a copy of Zocchi's Superhero 2044 came up. In each case it was the first Zocchi printing.

However, the actual first print of the work -- then titled Superhero 44 -- was published by Donald Saxman (the designer) before Lou purchased and renamed it in 1977. The True First has a black & white cover and spiral comb binding, and apparently 250 copies were made.

At GenCon we incorrectly named Zocchi's 1st print as the True First, which it was not. The auction apologizes for the error.

(With thanks to Robert Dickerson for the correction.)

More details: See Maliszewski's blog from Feb 2011
