Is Dungeon 112 Rare? They don't seem to crop up on eBay.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

I would say rare is a strong word for it!  How about uncommon!

They are one of the few 3rd edition copies that are out of stock for back issue ordering (I believe #113 is the other recent one, #82-#87 are also out of stock I think)  Undoubtedly the Maure Castle dungeon has jolted the popularity of this issue beyond the realm of just 3.0 gamers (I bought a copy myself) to those who are fans of 1st edition, AD&D, Greyhawk, Old School gaming, Rob Kuntz, etc.  As such I would expect the value to rise dramatically compared to other Dungeon mags.  Right now, if I ran across a nice copy, I would put $20 or so on it for my Ebay store, and I bet it would disappear quickly. We always talk about what would be collectible for 3rd ed, well here is an example!

From reading the later issues Paizo's had very good feedback from that issue and are looking at more follow-ups........as to the timeframe that's anyone's guess.

Not really rare..just sold out.

Will probably be available as a PDF soon. (They don't PDF 'em until they are out of stock.)

Another run worth a look are the "Age of Worms Adventure Path" series. (IIRC - 126 through 137) A bunch of Greyhawk Goodness adventuring in the Free City area, fighting Kyuss Cultists, battling Dragotha, and (maybe) killing a godling.

Obviously, not all of the adventures in the series are going to be everyone's mug of ale, but some individual ones are good....

Episode 10 -    "Into the Wormcrawl Fissure" The characters must wind their way through a city on a cliff wall looking for Dragotha's phyclactery while avoiding the dragons laying siege to a Giantish enclave.

I think they have already followed it up with a sequel!  Another level IIRC

Dungeon 112 is availabel as a PDF from Paizo. It's not the same though, is it?

Dungeon 124 and 136 contain follow up dungeon levels for Maure Castle.

I've managed to get 124 and I can get 136 when it's released, but 112 doesn't seem to turn up on eBay or any of the other usual haunts.

Ok...did you just say that using a PDF is not the same as using the actual item?

Indeed I did.

The PDF file you get from Paizo is actually a zip file with about 12 different PDF files in it, one file for each separate map, one file for the cover, one file for each different block of text, no adverts or anything.
Kind of like buying a magazine that had been cut up and glued onto sheets of card.
Would you buy a magazine that had been cut up?

Personally I like PDF files. They are very convenient, and easy to use if they are scanned by professionals. The ones sold by Paizo and RPGnow are produced by tea boys and secretaries. They are shite.

And there is a difference (at least in my collection) between those Items I will keep because I like them and want them in my collection, and those I only want to read.

A PDF copy of a product will never detract or impact on the sale of those pproducts worthy of a collector's attention. Regardless of what the old and infirm say about all this 'new technology'.

http://www.theplaceforgames.com/product ... 78&CatID=3

Actually, the published MC levels are in 112 and 124 so far; 136 got pushed back to 139 IIRC---James Jacobs posted this on the Paizo boards.

edit:  confirmed @ http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/du ... nstallment

Thanks, Allan. RJK said the same.

Wait...on the Paizo page it says that issue #113 has Maure Castle.  Right?

Was there some kind of error?

Must be, it was definitely issue 112, as you can see from the cover:  http://paizo.com/dungeon/products/issues/2004/112

Ah...minor panic ends.

I just bought the pdf of #112....sort of like a revenant of #112.

Wow...all you ODDbolds must be seriously yanked off that Maure Castle is in Third Edition mode.  It would have been good, but now it is incomprehensible drivel.  Right?

Yeah, kinda like managing to 'read magic' and finding the scroll is in elvish. :D  But RJK wrote it in 1E AD&D and Paizo translated it themselves. The original 1E AD&D manuscript is out there with someone. It was on eBay a while back.

Don't forget #124, which has Maure Castle: Chambers of Antiquities, and #139 which will have Maure Castle: The Greater Halls. These are also by RJK.

I broke down and bought a subscription (yeah such a hard thing to do :) )
Really should have started when they released an updated Isle of Dread in one of the magazines..

I have had one for going on 8 years now!  It is nice seeing it in the mailbox and then having something to read for a few days!  The Maure Castle adventure was very good but then so are the ongoing adventure paths as well.  You can't beat the price of a subscription either, its like 33% off or something.  For a few dollars a month it is defiantly worth it.
