Apologies for the delay: just back from a jog in the dunes after Al guilted me into doing so!

The "front" has errata only, LizMan logo, TSR Rules. That alone would make it older as "Rules" was used only a short time.

It looks like a newer set of sheets, IMO.

The earliest have a separate "Corrections" sheet (not required in the later prints) and various differences in the text. The easiest of those would be the Tolkien refs, perhaps.
If you check on the monster list, do you have Balrogs between Dragons and Gargoyles, or is there a blank space?

I thought the use of "Tactical Studies Rules" on the sheets was a deliberate selling ploy, especially in the "Original Collectors Edition" (6th/7th) context

What else would you like me to check? They may have been in my woodgrain--I don't remember.

Even if they weren't, they can't be very much newer than '81 'cause that's when I put this stuff up. When I moved, I never DM'd again except a couple times in a little local con, and that wasn't any of my dungeons.

My old pack of gaming cronies didn't RPG very much. I was always a simulations/miniatures gamer hiding in the RPG forest. I had a sand table, the whole thing. I still have more than 4400 microscale tanks and stuff in 1:285 scale. I love to play fantasy games; I quit RPGs when I left Wisconsin.

They'd be mid-76/mid-77: 5th print.

Sorry, I should have tightened up my wording: the 5th print ref sheets have that "new look" cover but will still have the Tolkien refs. The 6th/7th have the "new look" cover but without Tolkien refs.
(=> 6th print "Original Collectors Edition" in this auction, for example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 8785995900 - just about readable for "Tactical Studies Rules".

The earlier (woodgrain) sheets had that separate correction sheet plus the ref sheets often had blank pages/sides and were in that earlier/not-so-easy-to-read font (as in that 3rd print M&T you have).

I think it's fair to say that was the case for a lot of the people who were in there right at the start of modern RPGs.

Careful; you'll have people asking whether you have a "woodgrain" set of Tractics in your collection, still!

I have been looking for Outdoor Geos for awhile and so when I saw an opportunity to get them in shrink(1st print at that!) I put in a pretty substantial bid. I am curious to see what your bid was though if you don't mind disclosing it.
