So...  The local comic/game shop has a bookcase off inthe corner filled with used games,.  2 of the shelves are full of 1st & 2nd edition TSR products.  A few weeks ago, I noticed a lizard logo, 1976 (or was it '79) boxed set of the original Lankhmar game.  Everything *seems to be there (the cards are punched, but included in baggies.  The box is in good condition.

I went in there tonight, and as I'm looking at it, the guy working (I'm pretty sure he's the owner) says 'I shouldn't even have that out here.'  I ask why, and he says that he could get $60-$90 for it on eBay.  I asked how much he'd sell it to me for, and after searching around online, tole me $50.  Does this seem to be a good price?  I'm half tempted to stop in when he's *not* there, and hope to get it for much lower from someone else thats working....

The Lankhmar game can fetch a decent price on ebay, its true - I've seen it go for $50+ a couple of times. But I've also seen it go for under $30 a couple of times as well.

$50 is on the high side, but still reasonable if its in good condition. Factor in no shipping costs, and that there is no risk of the item going missing in the mail (or not being sent at all) and it's not a bad deal. Having said that, with some patience you could eventually get it cheaper on ebay (I picked up a copy for $20 a year ago or so).

Regards

Mike

I've seen first printing NM copies go for $45-ish, so $50 seems a bit high to me.

I bought one for $35 or so earlier this year and then had one go a couple of weeks later for $28 if I am not mistaken.

Well, I wouldn't buy from anyone that resembles "Comic Book Guy" from the Simpsons...he needs to lose the attitude.  If someone starts searching around online, I'm outta there.  That's ridiculous.

BoardGameGeek Marketplace - Sale List: Lankhmar | BoardGameGeek

There is a copy for sale at Boardgamegeek in VG condition for Euro 60.00 which is, what, just over USD 70.00. Perhaps rarer this side of the pond than in the US?

The alternative, a really good feature of the geek, is the trading facility. Go to the game entry, hit on users trading this game and you will find both a UK and US owner with a list of his wants. Take it from there.

Recall it was well reviewed in White Dwarf at the time...
