Hello All,

I assume that the pricing for OD&D sets listed on: Rulebooks Index assumes the complete set, including three booklets, reference sheets, and the box.

My question is: what kind of price would folks expect to pay/fetch for the three booklets only, i.e., without reference sheets and the box?

It will depend on what printing they are and what condition they are in. Pictures will help to evaluate them.

Thanks Mike,

I guess I was looking for a general indication that booklets alone, for example, are worth about 50% or 80% or whatever, of the full set.

In this particular instance, I am considering selling a nice 5th print set of booklets alone. They are a nice, clean set with tight and bright pages, no staple rust, no odours, no material marks or stains. Very minor signs of use (the slightest signs of corner denting, page turning). I would call them very fine condition.

Let me see if I can pull together some photos...

edit: added "material".

They look lovely!

As to value, maybe USD 60 to 80 each, so perhaps something like 200, perhaps 250, for the set. Others may chip in here, they would look really nice on a display stand.

Most collectors are looking for a complete item (whether it is a game or a toy etc..). So the discount is tough - especially when you consider that the boxes were generally treated poorly by players. By comparison, I recently paid GBP 150 for one booklet (Men & Magic) from a 3rd print set and feel I did OK.

I just sold a set of OCE booklets with reference sheets for $250 - which is about a third of the going rate (assuming a nice box).  So I'd guesstimate $300-$350 for your booklets without the ref sheets.

But who knows, I'm wrong about this stuff all the time, lol

I draw the line at collecting... D&D beach towels.

Thanks for the feedback folks. Prices certainly seem to have escalated in the last decade or so!

As it turns out, I also have the reference sheets to go with these.
