I recently had 2 Dragon Magazine lots up on eBay.
One lot had over 800 views, the other only 30
The 800 views lot had the following in it:
90 through 98
Best of Dragon Vol II from the first four years of DRAGON Magazine
Best of The Dragon from The Strategic Review and The Dragon Vol I & II
What, if anything, would garner that much notice?
The 30 view lot had:
81 through 89
Best of Dragon Vol II from the first four years of DRAGON Magazine
Best of The Dragon from The Strategic Review and The Dragon Vol I & II

After flipping through 90-98, I couldn't find a good explanation for that viewing discrepancy. 98 is an anniversary issue, 94 has a lot of *Marvel* material, and there was some Snarfquest material ...but I couldn't imagine that content causing this delta. Did you check for for spelling errors and/or missing descriptions in the 81-89 lot?

People hit on the keyword "Strategic Review" and that probably generated most of the hits/looks.

Did the auctions both share the 'Strategic Review' references? Or, just the one. I never saw them, so cannot compare.
I've seen some weird stuff in the last few months myself. Had a bunch of
d20
Penumbra stuff up this year repeatedly garnering a maximum of about 15 hits each. Then a couple of times they jumped to about 150 before going back to normal.

I saw both and was a bidder on the Dragon 90-98 lot. I did not win that lot, it seemed to go for more than I was expecting although I can't remember off the top of my head what the winning bid was. I would say well sold on that one!
I did not bid on the Dragon 81-89 lot. For me there isn't any great mystery, I had 6 out of 9 of those issues. For the other lot I did bid on I only had 1 of the 9. It does seem odd that one had dramatically more views, in my normal eBay searching I found both easily enough and it was only due to the state of my own collection that I was only a bidder on one.

What shape were issues #90-98 in?
The condition of the magazines in that lot, in relation to the poor quality of the paper stock that was being used for the covers at that time, might be one reason.
The stand-out artwork on #92 might be another. (#92 was my first Dragon.)
