Oppurtunity has arisen for me to buy a box with the following dragon magazines, how much would be a good price?

#3, 7-13, 16-19, 22-32, 34-35, 37-100

$200-300 would be reasonable if they are in VF or better.  There are 12 of them that are worth decent money.  Beyond #40 usually doesn't bring a lot ($1.00-$5.00).  I would be looking for NM or better personally, unless you just want to read/use them.  If in lesser condition I would see if the seller would take $150 or less.  My 2-cents...

quick aside: If it's not enough $ for the seller's "large stack of zines", you could always make an offer for those issues up to #37, only, in the knowledge that any other missing gaps (especially above #60) should be a cinch, later.

person wasn't there when i went yesturday, heading back monday.  i'm actually buying it from the wife of a hobby shop owner.  she's cleaning out her extras.  worst part is her extras used to include Dragons 1,2,4,5, and 6, but she lent them to her son so he could use them for reference in games and he lost them!

well, i'm not sure how informed of their value she is.  they don't have a computer at home or office, and she's estimating value based on cover price.  she'd talked about having a friend put them on ebay for this starting price if i don't buy them.  i'd gladly buy a dragon #3 for $1.50, but good luck getting me to buy the later issues at 3.95!    unfortunatly she's unwilling to break up boxes.  she has four boxes of extra mags, i'm working on the first right now with the earliest issues.  once i secure that i'll try the later ones.

Dave, one factor to consider: some of the d20/3e issues go for surprisingly high prices (apologies if you already know this).

I'm not sure exactly what all of the factors are, but NM or Fine issues from 274-280 are routinely sold for $10 to $20 (assuming all inserts or polybagged items are included, of course). Issues in the low 300s can often bring $10. There seems to be some ebb and flow to this — over the holidays, for instance, I could not get my hands on a copy of 276 for less than $22 — but, in general, these issues have a surprising value considering their recent publication (and their devotion to a putrid system).

Should you decide to go ahead with the deal, you might be able to recoup some of your investment by immediately selling these off (especially if you can get them for say, $2 or $3 a pop). Hell, I'd be happy to buy a couple of them from you ...
