So, was this a good buy:

I saw it before heading out on a walk with H and E a few minutes ago, but didn't bother picking it up:  I don't recall my PHBs being SW'd back in the day, and figured it wasn't original SW....

Never saw one in SW.  Probably something the hobby store did to protect it, as it apparently did.  Wish more stores had done that!  Anyway, $25.00 is pretty high for a Players that's a 4th-7th print since they normally go for next to nothing but, if it is M, then it might fetch a little more.

this phb probably was not the best buy ive ever made. It is a used copy probably sold in a used book or gaming store.  there is evedent use along the spine that the book has been opened more then lets say three times but otherwise the cover is close to a near mint condition thats probably due to the shrink. the shrink was added after it reached the book store i probably will not take the shrink off so ill never know what the interior looks like  jeff

I would take the SW off too to check it out to see if there is anything else wrong with it.  It's not going to increase the value since it is a used book (or at the very least handled, then shrinkwrapped).  I put all of my hardcovers in oversized magazine bags to protect them.

Not only that, the shrinkwrap will continue shrinking, and might cause the corners of the book to bow inward.  I would just take the shrink off and find a magazine bag to store it in if it truly is in superior condition.

I didnt realize that the sw would detract by bowing the corners i will take it off and look inside to see if there any markings.
