Do these look like a set that would have appeared with a Moldvay Basic? And, is this a fair price for the set? (I'd think about $5-ish myself, but I haven't followed dice auctions).

I thought the Moldvay Basic set dice were multi-coloured hard plastic?
Did the Moldvay set come with dice and a crayon?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Those definitely look like the style of dice which originally came with the 1980 Basic and Expert sets.
You could also get those same style dice seperately in a rigid blister pack case marketed as "Dragon Dice"

There were many different colored sets, but all the dice in a set of 6 were the same color.
They were plastic, but weren't very hard by dice standards.  The 20-sider tended to wear down especially quickly to nearly spherical.

Yes, the Moldvay/Cook B/X sets included a sealed bag with six dice and a crayon.
To the best of my recollection, the later Mentzer sets did not come with dice, however.

Yes. Indeed, at the risk of appearing totally immodest, here is an example (see second pic).

The Mentzer Basic and Expert sets did come with dice. The Mentzer Basic Set I had back then came with the same pale blue dice that Simpering Toad posted above.

Okay. I think I have a set of those in their little baggie with the crayon.
So what set did the classic set of five gard plastic coloured dice come with?

You mean these dice (see the first pic HERE)?

But yeah, I've seen boxes of Mentzer Basic come with the type I began the thread with, and another type of multicolored, pre-filled set. Like this one (which has an added bonus...  :D )
