I just looked over a Steve Marsh article in Lords of Chaos #5 and he mentions Planes of Ice, don't think I saw anything about Mistworld. I'll check some A&Es and see if there is anything there.

I have a copy of one of the rare completed copies here, it's one Steve mentions in a post in the other thread I linked. Steve has donated it to NTRPG con (Thanks so much, Steve!!!). Doug and I don't want to do anything with it until we see what it might be worth, and if there is any chance we could run copies in digest form to sell for NTRPG con (need to talk to Steve first). Just curious how many there were, what the one sold by Paul Stormber back year's ago went for, any info at all about it.

Is there a PDF of Mistworld out there freely available?  I'm sure I remember downloading it and reading it.

Here it is for download:

http://adrr.com/story/mistworld.htm

If you have a "copy" of the original manuscript, I'm not sure how much value it has when seemingly anyone can print up their own "copy".

Yep that's it!.  As to why printing up your own copy, well anyone can do that for anything.  This is actually an original, but it's printed so cheaply it would be hard to tell the difference I suspect. I think I'll get Steve to sign this during NTRPG Con to give it a little luster, surprised he didn't just do it before sending it to us.  We'll stick it up for auction one of these days to see what it does on the open market.

Usually it depends on when the "copy" was produced.  By the sounds of the other thread, it didn't seem like Steve had a copy and only obtained one from the PDF that is posted online.  Exactly the point - anyone can print up a copy and I don't think it has much value if that is all Steve did a couple years ago - download the PDF and gave you a copy.

If its an original manuscript from the 1980s then its a totally different beast.

Actually, Steve states on the thread that he found a copy and I assumed he created the pdf from that, not vice versa.

I  believe more than one copy was probably printed off in 1984.  But I'll ask Steve and see what he can tell us.

This from Steve today...I was floored:

It is the last remaining original copy, printed on a dot matrix and the one the PDF was generated from.

Glad you enjoyed the books -- I wanted to give you a pleasant surprise. I figured another sword would not surprise any one so I sent you the original and the last remaining copy of Mistworld in my possession.

I am grateful you put the con on.

Think of what I sent as my gift back to you.

Pretty danged awesome!

That's awesome!  Definitely get him to sign it too or letter of authenticity - its funny how "formal" our hobby has become.  Great to see that some of the original stuff has survived.

Yes, definitely signed, and I'll work out some sort of letter or authenticity for him to sign also.

Congrats Mike.  It is well deserved and I'm glad it goes to someone who understands it's value to our hobby.

Doug also has all the Steve Marsh notes auctioned by Paul Stormberg many years ago.  We'll talk to Steve at this year's con, maybe we could work something out to republish a bunch of it with Steve's permission, including Mistworld.

I'm pretty sure I uploaded some supplementary Mistworld stuff in PDF that was in with a job lot of Steve Marsh's contributions to various publications.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . chicken and wild rice soup.
