Recently, a buddy of mine was helping his parents move into a retirement home, and he came across his old D&D stuff in the attic.  We started playing back in 1977, so the collection is mostly OD&D and AD&D books.  Since I still actively play and have collected lots of goodies from the old days, he sent me his collection.

In the collection were two, large hex sheets.  They are identified with TSR GAMES and the wizard logo in one corner and 8002 in the other.  Both sheets are heavy stock - unused, uncreased, unmarked, uncut, and in great condition.

Before I shuffle them off to eBay, I wanted to find out what they are worth - to set a good starting price.  The Acaeum has $74 for NM - not sure how many data points this is based on.  Any help would be appreciated.

BTW, I have already offered scans/photos/measurements to the Acaeum staff to help with the database.

I sold about 3 of these and still have a couple more - not a lot of interest in them.  I remember selling them for somewhat less than $74.

I submitted images to the Acaeum years ago too - I don't think they ever made it into an update:

Worth noting for posterity that the market seems to be saturated on these for now - 3 in one month was too much.

3 sold in the last month: one for $75 BIN, $52 open auction followed by $26 open auction.

I guess 10 or so known copies still makes it an "Acaeum Class 5 Rarity"?

I found an 8002 TSR Hobbies hex sheet in a collection I just bought, which was a nice surprise :)

Question: how was it originally sold?  Mine is folded 3 times, so it would fit in a regular 9x11 ziploc.  But the recent auction I see shows it rolled and the Acaeum scan looks like its flat, no creases.

Did they come in a tube or flat?  And one sheet at a time?

Thanks in advance!

I think they were just sold as a sheet.  I believe I had 6 of them and none of them were folded.

Thanks Mars!  I've never seen one in packaging.  I think this one has been folded - not rolled - a long time and wondered if that was original.

I doubt there was any kind of special packaging probably walked out of the store with an elastic around it and that was it.

The sheets are large so it makes them difficult to move around. I'm surprised more of the ones we do see aren't folded this way but the paper is pretty thick to fold too.

To be clear, I'm not suggesting they came this way but it seems like a natural thing a lot of people might do for convenience.

I just missed out on a set of four of these, too:

I need to work on my eBay searches, I didn't even see these listed!
