I've seen a number of 3rd print red font MMs sell for about US$10 in recent months, several of them I have been the seller. What about 3rd+ prints (the yellow font with new banner)? How have they been doing?

Granted this is only anecdotal, since I haven't been saving those auctions, but of all the MM's I have seen sold, prices have been WAY down over the last couple years. Unless it's a near mint 1st print which could fetch over $100, I think 2nd and 3rds are in the $20-$30 range at the very highest. 3rd+ I'm thinking goes the same as 4,5,6th, etc.

EDIT: hmmm, I guess I take that back .... the Rural Retreater seems to have sold one for $35 in a BIN

** expired eBay auction **

I find this a bit surprising. I'd have to search out more to see if this was really the going rate.

That was a clearly identified copy (by a Shady Dealer, btw).  One less advertised would probably go for much less.

Clearly ID'd sure, but this is also a seller who relies on hype. For instance, listing a 144-page D&DG as being *banned*, thus hooking some who don't know better into taking the bait. So in this case, was it actual value, or (more likely) the result of a sales pitch?

I'd say its a selling technique which gives an indication of potential price, but as a realistic market price, I'd ignore it.
