Okay, I will probably have some JG questions in the next little while because I just got a bunch of stuff.

One items is a box of these Character Chronicle Cards.  On the webpage, it says that on the front of each card says "Character Chronicle Card".

http://acaeum.com/jg/Item0036.html

Does it really say this or is it suppose to say "Character Chronicle Carte"?  Mine say this.

Here are some scans of a set I obtained late last year.
The set arrived packed inside a sandwich baggie, which is of course not how it was purchased from Judges Guild.
My set also came with two copies of the exact same Flyer.
It was a mail-in response sheet for joining the "The Fellowship"
(Tolkien Enterprises.... was located in Berkley, CA; while Judges Guild was in Illinois...)
The fliers were folded small enough so that they were basically the size of the cards.
(The scan sizes below are misleading as the cards are about 1/4th the size of the Flyer.)
I have no idea if the fliers were original with the card set.
I suspect not, as the fliers are dated 1978 and the cards are dated 1977...
But they might have been.
My set was missing 2 Character Chronicle Cards (98 instead of 100)

If your set has some different wording it might be a misprint, or possibly a different print altogether.
Can you post scans?

No mine say the same thing as yours but the JG webpages says "Card" instead of "Carte" so I wanted to double check.

Could there have been a "french" translation done at one time on those? Card in french is Carte if I remember correctly.

Or can IO check his to see since he's the one that sent the picture in of the yellow card?

Maybe the old IO?

Sorry, not this one...

Any chance these were available as just a bulk of cards without cover sheet?  I seem to have about 300 cards but none of the other paperwork.

Just to clarify my post above.

From my scans;
Please see the Yellow Character Cards Front (Side A). (The 3rd scan)
At the bottom of that card are the words:
"CHARACTER CHRONICLE CARTE__" .
The text is typed in Grey Ink on what I call side A of the Yellow Character Card.

That text seems to match what Mars stated is written on his cards.
ALL 98 of my cards have the same wording at the bottom of the card.

I was confused at first; thinking your cover sheet had that wording...
From your latest post, sounds like you do not have a cover sheet at all, just a huge stack of the yellow cards?

As for having over 300 cards... I have no idea if those ever came in any format other than 100 cards per package.
Were your cards in shrink wrap, or (as I suspect) in one big pile of cards?
Could be the person who had them originally simply had 3 or more sets of the cards and placed them all together.

As for the scan of the yellow card that was submitted by Mike 'Invincible Overlord' it is not linked with an enlargement; even so I suspect it has the same text at the bottom as the cards do that you and I have.

BTW: What would you want for 2 cards? 8)

I intend to get Gnat's scans on the site (may do that later today) and check on the image(s) I have of the cards - sadly one of the items I still don't have.

Well no better image of the 'front' of the card (that I previously had)- oh I have many of the back and seems I still haven't put the "yellow" title card up. :x

That is definitely a possibility.  The only reason I suggest otherwise is that this was bought as part of a lot where everything is in basically NM shape or even Mint.  There is a bunch of JG stuff and all of the loose cover sheets are present, etc so its a little bit out of place if the cover cards were lost.

All I have is the loose stack of cards so I can't really be sure.

Thanks for the quality scans, Gnat.

I haven't seen this before. I like the scroll border - nice touch.

Designed for a typewriter ... it was a different world, then.

What does the GAM stat stand for?

It's 100 card packs - checked the catalog pages I have scanned in - now if someone can physically check any of the earlier ones might be able to see if the card does have carte on it.  The image gets worse to read the bottom the later the catalogs.

Updated the page.  Sort of curious though if the yellow title card is not like the Tac Card 1st (would be curious to know what is on the back of it).  Will say the back of the green tile card has almost the same product list as the 2nd/3rd print tac cards, but some minor differences on the 4 products they share.

Okay, I went through the stack of cards and found I have 283 of them.  I also found one cover card which is  yellow.  The back is exactly the same as the green one Gnat posted.  Do you need a scan of it?

Yeah, also replied to your PM.

Now I'm curious if sets are 100 not including the title card or including the title card.

I've checked The Google and done a (probably ineffective) search here on The Acaeum. But what does "GAM" stand for on these cartes/cards.
It almost looks like a seventh attribute there listed under Charisma.
Thanks all!

A Character Chronicle Card image can be seen here:  JG0036-Character Chronicle Cards

An interesting question indeed!  Looking over the Judges Guild term defining page, there are no clues:

The Judges Guild Universal Syste

On one forum someone guessed GAM represented "Gambling," but that doesn't sound right.  On the Judges Guild Characters Checklist, it's interesting that the next three lines after the character attributes are "God," "Armour," and "Name," so maybe GAM stands for God, Armour and something else, but that doesn't make sense either (
Characters Checklist 1st).   Since Judges Guild was devised to work with multiple platforms/worlds/campaigns, perhaps it is short for "Game," but I would think the layout artist would go ahead and spell out the entire word.  The layout indeed suggests it is an attribute stat, but not everything in the world makes sense.  I'll be curious if the answer is ever revealed.   :?
