Sad to hear of another piece of Judges Guild being gone.  Memories though are what count, not the actual building itself.

I don't remember this but then I was around for the first version(s) of Tegel only. After 1978, I wouldn't be surprised if they did some creative recombining to put the leftovers of an earlier print run with later. I'm sorry that I don't have any recollection of this.

OTOH I do see Mark Holmer tonight so I'll see if he remembers! He was my fellow wizard during Bob's Tolkien campaign and later Bob's manager.

PS I posted the following elsewhere and thought it might be of interest:

One time I drove 150 miles to Astoria to pick up 5,000 Judges Guild Journals (too cheap to pay shipping... that's what the limousine was for) and they had all the pages scrambled! Normally, I'd negotiate a lower price and take'em (i.e early Campaign Hex System book). This time I said I just can't accept them, so they said go to lunch. Before I got back, they were done!

It's not that modern technology can't be even faster at times, it's just there are so MANY things that can go wrong compared to the mature technology of 1978... reordered the negatives, reburnt plates and fired up the web press in about 45 minutes.

Me too but I don't think I can attach the maps to fold out... so it would just be a case of sticking them in there. I guess that could be a special option.

The giant (11x13") print-on-demand book option allows you 40-page increments so once I added 5 pages I was into my 2nd 40-page block. So I figured that the maps would add another way to experience the maps... that would be more convenient than a giant map is.

Or, POD the book without the map. Leave the inner leafs of the hardback blank. Then you could print the maps full-size through say Cafepress, stick thenm both in a pocket in the back, and even print a dustcover if you wish, and assemble the SE yourself. Buyers could buy through Lulu, or buy a SE edition through you direct.
