Here is a page of interesting pictures of the old German town of Rothenburg.

http://www.galenfrysinger.com/rothenburg_town_walls.htm

It gives you some perspective on the kinds of walls certain roguish types might be climing in a D&D game.

The "Most Photographed Gate" ( starting around picture #18 ) should look familiar to some.

Most of which can be obtained in model form ... tho' not quite the same scale as most D&D minis.

Hrmm... looks like I missed that by one railway junction and under 10 miles. Another good reason to return to the area, I guess. :)

Neat pics on the town walls, too; thx.

That's Awesome :D (will definitely need to add that to the site).
I got the real life Tegel Manor (name only) that was in one of the Journals: http://www.acaeum.com/jg/ModPhotos/Real ... Manor.html

I actually *might* have some pictures of that location myself, from the tourn I took of Germany back in the summer of 1984. I know we toured and walked around Rothenburg, and I distinctly remember being at that site. I didn't put 2 and 2 together at the time, though... :( Being in high school and in Germany, I was more interested in beer than in anything else. :)

I whipped this up in photoshop...

Looks like the tree is "new" or a seasonal decoration...

I would love to live in that building…  :D  What a cool lactation! I love the way the street horseshoes around it while also descending the height of one floor. So cool, and the clock tower gate as your neighbor  :D .

It looks to be a four-story structure. I'd set it up as so - the basement or bottom floor level would be the art-studio, the 1st floor entered from street level to the left of the photo would be the entrance to a game store, the second floor would be a RPG museum/game hall, and the third floor a small apartment.

Oh, man would that be amazing! Now if I could only convince the lady…

And to think they built that town to look like a JG supplement ...

Doesn't bare thinking about

But it does remind me of the summer ('82) my parents packed me off to southern Germany (Passau) to learn the lingo ..
