What JG rares would make the top five?

Now that things have been so nicely hammered out by Plaag… What do you fellow collectors think?

Please exclude unique items like art or manuscripts.

One of them would be the Character Chronicle Cards

Great list Plaag.

Nice :D

Would it be possible to get scans/nice clear overhead photos of the City State maps as I have them for http://www.acaeum.com/jg/Item0001.html (Would help complete those missing pics) And is that the map that came with the white booklet I of yours?

Would love to have one of those Judges Guild shirts, but I'm sort of curious on the ol Trek-80 game (would just love to have the whole package of that)

No problem Plaag… It's the least I can do.

I don't have a scanner here, hence the snapshots, but I'll get access to one. And yes the White instalment I came in the same mailer with those 4 no copyright maps, and the 4-sheet players maps as well.

I just noticed this. It's a 17" x 22" player's map with a JG copyright and it's on a different paper stock. It's sort of a ruff paper, it's a different color, and there is no Hammermill watermark.

Here's a comparison of the three. The top is the 4-sheet, the second is what you have listed as the 17" X 22" and it's marked with the Hammermill Bond watermark, the third is the above mentioned 17" x 22".

Image

Edit - I just noticed the three maps have different map scales. The 4-sheet doesn't have one, and the Hammermill one has a larger one than the copyrighted one. Interesting…  8O  :D  this is the kind of stuff that gets me into trouble with the lady. "You're spending all your time with those old books again"

IttyBitty,

Here's an unopened set of Chronicle's still in the shrink.

The bottom map is this: http://www.acaeum.com/jg/Item0009.html
Could tell by the buildings listed with names and knew it is not the players map.

Isn't the four-sheet CSIO map the same one that Fencert was selling in shrinkwrap copies for nearly a year?

Or, was that one a different edition of the four-sheet map?

I ended up buying one of Fencert's sets for just over $20...and it included the shrinkwrapped CSIO map set, among others.

Yeah, he was selling the Hammermill Bond versions, though I ended up having one of those sets contain 1 non-Hammermill Bond map (out of the 4) so those sets can contain a gem.

putting aside the initial 1st print stuff, such as your white CSIO and shanes 1st scrapfaggot book etc, i think the rarest items have to include:

judges guild t-shirt
judges guild member button
trek-80

they are certainly the rarest JG items and i doubt you could top that. doesnt mean they have massive value, but they are certainly the rarest.

then you have things such as character chronicle cards, dungeon TAC cards, the earliest dungeoneers and any of the original complete instalment packages with envelope, specially the much older ones.

something to add to the mix and work from :)

Al

ps. not quite so rare, but prb worth a decent mention, i would prb say pegasus #1, #2 and maybe #9 and #10 too - these don't show up often at all.

Al,

those early dungeoneers .... you just pipped me on a private sale a wee while back.

what was interesting was that I believe I offered exactly the same for them, I was just too slow making my mind up...

cheers,

Brian

Brian - sorry man. been looking for them for like the longest time ever. damn hard to get. stephen is a great guy and did me a really good turn there. but then, i would simply do the same for him in return.

NOW if i could just persuade BC to part with the two he has  :P

Yeh, I love them too, it's some of Paul Jaquays earliest work.

Image

Their a great art and literary D&D zine

Image

Found myself with doubles of 2 and 3 after a lot purchase, and the two I picked up from Tadashi Ehara.

Image

What's cool to think about is that 30+ years ago, these were together in a pile, being carried to the post office in Spring Arbor, MI by collage age Paul Jaquays. #2 was mailed on Oct 5, 1976, and #3 was mailed on Jan 5, 1977. One traveled to San Francisco and the other to Maryville Missouri both via subscription . Now together again…

Just fun to think about.  :)

Nice pics, IO. ;)
*remembers those auctions well* :)

*g*... And I'm still missing those two issues, IIRC.

Is that a mailed copy of #7, btw? Don't remember seeing those seal tabs before.

NICE!

One thing about Dungeoneer #4 is that the Discs of Severen by Jim Ward don't appear in the Dungeoneer Compendium.
