I have a Mint Tegel Manor, 1977,  still in the envelope it was mailed in to me at TSR. Envelope is a bit beat, but all present.

Also contains pristine copy of TJG Installment 2,
Wizard's Guide...Ready Ref Sheet.
Character Checklist
2 Maps unfolded less than 3 times each.

Also

NM-M Judges Guild Intitial Issue, 1st Printing  in plastic sleeve
Contains:
Maps I-1 - I-5 on white
Maps I-9 - I-12  on white
Maps I-1 - I-5   on yellow and goldenrod

Does not have booklet.

Make an offer? It will go on e-bay real soon otherwise.

What are the J-1 to J-4 maps on goldenrod?

In both cases I say go to eBay. It's the big leveller. The newbie money helps push the price up, and the collectors already know what the products are worth.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

photos/scans would also help.

Aside: do you have a post mark date on that envelope?
and do these items corrispond to the ones on my website: http://www.acaeum.com/jg/

Specifically the white I9-I12: http://www.acaeum.com/jg/Item0004.html
and white I1-I5: http://www.acaeum.com/jg/Item0008.html

s'OK, Shane, I've thrashed out the contents with Tim (since about 15 minutes after he posted).
There's no white "I" booklet - first post amended accordingly.

Well regarding these items I won: the mailed Installment L does include the Reduced Judges Map (#30), the Wizards/Construction Ref sheet, plus a list of shops that were selling Judges Guild items (hopefully this weekend I shall have a chance to post that on the site).

Installment M has better maps that I'll post, other then that it seems at least early on Judges Guild had envelopes that they mailed, and envelopes that were not.
This was mailed:
http://www.acaeum.com/jg/Item0034.html
The one I shall add to the site looks like this barring the written 'Q' and sticker:

Congrats, Shane. I told Mr. Huckerby he'd have to watch out for you!
The postmark date is the same as my mailer copy, btw.

List of shops sounds interesting: does that look like a regular item or just something that was sent to Tim, for obvious reasons?

(aside: I did offer #30 before, in the middle of a large post, but didn't hear back: presumed you had sourced one elsewhere).

Anyone know exactly why Judges Guild made small cosmetic changes...such as the color of a cloak or skirt...when they made new print runs?

From Bob (JudgesGuild.net forums) "Each time we published a title, we sent in a new copyright notice. Chuck Anshell eventually took over this responsibility and then Mike Reagan as Business Manager. We usually upgrated the cover and corrected any errors upon reprint. At first, I reprinted everytime we ran out of any component..."

Seems Bob rarely mentioned printings, but he does change covers and product lists.  The hard part though is what components lasted and which were changed. Tegel we see only the cover sheets, Character Checklist, then the booklet itself till the format changed, then again there still is a CC sheet except for the last printing.

Just a list of shops and Booty list (it looks generic enough to be sent to anyone, but who knows)

Damn, I didn't see it. Oh well.
Am still curious as to who got the player map/I-dungeon lot.

Still doesn't really explain the phenomenon.  Some of the changes are not very significant and could not be regarded as "upgrades."  Some seem to actually be downgrades.  The covers of Modron are a good example of this "downgrading."

Also, since the cost of a four color cover had to be the same no matter which colors were used, upgrading from less colorful to more colorful does not seem to make sense....since the cover could have been as colorful or "better" right from the start.

Well it stopped after #560* (I have to scan a few more books and put them up as I've found more printings I did not know about). As to the changes to covers, well some are fixing mistakes:
http://www.acaeum.com/jg/Item0140.html
Others are just some color:
http://www.acaeum.com/jg/Item0119.html
and others include text, or exclude it..

If Bob did just revamp when components were gone, then for Modron it would first have likely been the booklet, then maps, then combining the whole thing (I'd have to investigate if the art director for that was the same..)

Overall though not much is 'upgraded'. Think of it like the 1st Ed DMG, cover stays roughly the same as well as content for the 1st 3 or so years. Maybe it comes down to: Don't judge a book by its cover (but for the most part you can judge its printing  :) )

*That I of course know about..
