Except one thing - on the cover is the misprint of how large the maps are (it says 17" x 22" but the actual maps are 11" x 17"). However, someone took a pen and wrote over the 17 and 22 with 11 and 17. So I'm curious, did JG do some manual correcting on this edition? Or did I just get a copy that the purchaser fixed on his own? Anyone else with a copy that has hand-written corrections of the map sizes?

There may be two printings of this version of Tegel (blue cover version). Maybe Shane could shed some light on this? There may also be differences between printings in the maps that were bundled, IIRC. I think I've had both at one time. I remember really liking the smaller Manor map, 'cos all the ones I'd seen up to that point had been 17"x22".

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

yeah i think i have seen two different sized sets of maps too. tho i dont think its a different printings situation....just a mis-match of what stock is left at the time.

Well here is what you should have (Brian won this auction)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 8823471298

However the color player map should be included in the center of the book.

The 17x22 map you should have is the judges map..however if those two 11x17 maps are a player and judge (well you got a #30 http://www.acaeum.com/jg/Items0023-24,0030.html )

So I suppose I should ask..first is the blue cover a part of the book or a seperate cover sheet? Second is there a color map in the center of the book? Third did you check my site to confirm it is a 4th with product list upto #750? Fourth what are the 2 maps you have (you'll know by the manor map on the back of them)?

Here's the auction I won:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1

Now, to answer your questions -

a) The blue cover is part of the book.

b) The color map is stapled in the center of the book.

c) I checked your site for the printing, and the highest number on the product list is #750, which is how I surmised it was 4th printing.

d) The two maps I have appear to be #24 and #30 from here.

I don't have the Tegel with me (I'm at work right now), so I'm only 95% sure of the maps. But I think I'm right on that.

Looks like Al's supposition might be right. JG had some mismatched stock...

Well you have the odd one out of the bunch..am surprised #30 made it as far to be included with a 4th printing (but then stranger things have happened). When you get a chance to look at the maps again, just confirm the #24/#30. (A much better find if you do have a #30).

Well, my two maps sure SEEM like #24 and #30. They're not actually labelled with any numbers, so I'm not sure how to tell other than the fact that they're both 11" x 17" and one's a player's map and one's a judge's map. Oh, and they both have a 1977 date on 'em, and they both compare to the scans on the site.

Well thats what you have then: a #24, a #30 and a 4th print Tegel.

Would you mind asking the seller where they got it from? Just to clarify since I'm almost certain its a piecemeal thing (seen a lot of 4ths with the large judge map, even 3rds with the large judges map and small players map).
Even Booty Lists state the #30 and RR sheet K only went out with mailed Installment L.

But like I said before, damn good buy and hell of a great find getting the #30.

So I heard back from the seller of my Tegel. He actually sold it for someone else, so he had to go back to ask the original owner. The original owner said that, as far as he could remember, the maps came shrink wrapped with the book, and it wasn't piece-mealed. The OO bought it when it was new, opened it, read it, then promptly stored it away.

BTW, the seller mentioned that he'll have other JG items from the OO on auction soon. If they're in as good a shape as the Tegel, they'll be worth looking for. (seller's current stuff - eBay listings)

thats very interesting to hear from both perspectives.

1. nice to know that some more items are coming out :) always fun to chase after bits n pieces specially in a condition as nice as that!

2. it further confirms what i have said often. i still think that when they were packing the items, if they didnt have 1 of something at the time (maybe just before a print run?) they would just make it up of something else which was pretty much exactly the same.

would make the most sense from a practical and economic view...

Well that is interesting (course could also explain the oddity I had in the #1 set of maps)..alright, thanks for that - I shall have to note that on the site.

Well make it sort of like your SWed copy: blank cover sheet, orange book, thick font CC, Judge map/players map labeled as 1st print 4th variant (CC is not that big of an issue - especially now that some mismatches are present)
Then you could probably just off load the oddball books (I'd probably put the large judges map with the 1st print booklet)

I still need to update that page for Tegel..
