I thought I was not destined to get a Dark Tower either.

Somewhat yes, also somewhat very cool item to have. Since the Gamescience version, while having more fluff, couldn't use many TSR related monsters.

:D
Melan used the original and not the Gamescience version when he wrote it.

Now burning a Tegel maybe sacrilege, but why would have someone done that

Wonder if anyone has made this into a Neverwinter Nights 'module' (then I may just have to buy #2 or reinstall #1).

Not really, unless you really care what shade of orange your booklet will be and whether there will be an "ENDE" inscription above an illustration of a skull or not. On the other hand, be prepared to pay ca. $30 to 50 for a reasonably intact set.

Does anyone have the B/W version of Gamescience's Tegel? I have both a b/w and color. The B/W says prepub on the cover. According to a sticker on the bag, 100 were produced. Any info would be helpful!

I have a copy of both the b/w and colour versions too.  The b/w is definitely rarer but still only commands about $25-30 at auction.  Its the Origins PrePub Preview but I have no idea how many were printed/sold.  Where did you hear the 100 number?  That makes it seem a lot rarer than I though it was.

It is on a sticker on the bag. I've never seen another one before; where did you get yours?

Hmmm. I suppose it might be true then. 4 copies isn't much for a mag printed 18 or so years ago.

Would like a scan/photo of the sticker if possible. It is the first instance I've heard of any specific print run regarding this.

A strange Gamescience Tegel has been mentioned before:

I was going to post this one Monday, but ran out of time. When I do, I'll try and get a good scan of the sticker. It is a small oval sticker with "Rare! Only 100 copies made" on it.
It does say Prepub version on the booklet, so I can definitely see them only printing 100 copies in a B/W format, then printing the rest in color after the prepubs sold.

I may start with a Gamescience Tegel... they are much easier to find, but really would prefer a more original version, since I actually like the skeletal method of adventure design.

the gamescience version is actually quite cool imo, serl.

the layout of the original booklet just suits my style of DMing anyway, so was more suited to me, but for others, they may find the more recent versions, much more to their liking.

crazy egor often has them for sale.

Thanks. I'll probably be in there some time this weekend (likely Saturday) so I might just poke my head around. Still owe the man some odd $700 (I make regular payments though) but it never goes down 'cause I'm always finding more to add to my "layaway box." Heh, I suck.

Definitely sounds like a Gamescience version is worth having, just to have a more fleshy module. :)
