Heya Shane,

In the Tell Qa entry, you list XXXI as being released at "Gen Con IV" which would be "Gen Con 4." I think you meant "Gen Con XL" for "Gen Con 40."

Huh. How utterly appropriate... "Gen Con XL." And indeed, this Gen Con will be "Extra Large"... :)

Why will it be extra large, James?

Is there a major new computer game component to this GenCon?

Two Reasons:

1) It is the 40th Anniversary Gen Con... so a lot of people will be coming who might not have in a while, including Gary Gygax himself! Gary's a guest of honor this year.

2) If you go here:

http://www.gencon.com/2007/indy/Exhibit ... itors.aspx

You will see that it has the biggest exhibit all ever for a Gen Con yet, including a large section for electronic games, which they are trying to pick up from E3. This, on top of more events and games, will make it the biggest Gen Con ever...

Hey, Shane:

In going through my stuff and cataloging it, I realized that one of my GenCon IX modules is not a module at all.  It is a stapled-together batch of old-style photocopies which includes the heart of the module, characters, tournament scoring and some other points notations.

So...do you have any idea if the module sold as GenCon IX was distributed at GenCon IX in any sort of comparable form?  Could this possibly be a scoring sheet or other piece of tournament brick-a-brack from the original?

Or, is it just somebody's bootleg copy with some other crap stapled in?

I originally bought it with another first print copy of the GenCon IX module.

The staples are bronze and rather heavy...funny.  :?

This would indicate that the origin lies in a culture with a Bronze Age level of development. Therefore the Prime Directive should be considered in effect.

:D I needed that this morning.   :D

He probably means brass or bronze-colored staples.

*bump*

Shane, now that GenCon is done, have you thought at all about the strange GenCon IX Dungeon that I have?

Do you know anything about the GenCon IX tournament?

OK...that is a definate "no."

What I have is a cut up and appended 4th printing with some tournament notes and stuff inside.

So, it is surely not from the original GenCon IX tournament...but possibly from someone else's local tournament...or an other con.

Never occured to me to simply look at the subweb.  Duh.

Heya Shane,

You can pretty much get rid of that list of products I announced at Gen Con 2006. While many of them will eventually be released (as campaign installments, as articles in AGJ, or even as full-fledged products on their own), it is confusing some readers who think that the list is still valid after the shift over to the magazine schedule...

Rather, I should say, you should probably take down the list as "announced products" in the same list as Tell Qa and XXXI, though keeping a side page for the announcements and such would work, with the proviso that the announced list is no longer valid...

Thanks!

James
