Well, in 16s they'd have to load up the wrong sheets the wrong way around, etc.

Going back to printing in 4s (i.e. using sheets pre-cut to the final size, or just larger, prior to final trimming), they'd just have to load up the wrong ones with the pre-printed grid. But the error would then be extremely obvious, I would have thought?
Is still a possibility, but given the 12 page displacement and presence of the grid on one page and it's absence on the other, the printing in 32s option (as above) fits the observed "final product" more easily.

hey guys. i can't find my DT. dunno where the feck i've put the bloody thing (spent nearly an hour looking for it)....

have read what y'all have put. i've had about 5 diff. DT's at one point or another and have never really noticed any big differences.

what i would possibly suggest tho, is that there is no way whatsoever, that there is gonna be 4 different 1st prints. what would be the logic in that?

i think they are simply printing anomolies. back in the day, it was quite a common thing and with what david was suggesting, i dont think its far off the mark.

Well, getting a 1st print Sea Steeds today it has some page tops attached.

Page 1/2 (cover) is attached to page 15/16 (on the top) and 31/32 (back cover) (side by side) while 15/16 is attached to 17/18 (side by side).
Page 3/4 is attached to page 13/14 (on the top) and 29/30 (side by side) while 13/14 is attached to 19/20 (side by side).
Page 5/6 is attached to page 11/12 (on the top) and 27/28 (side by side) while 11/12 is attached to 21/22 (side by side).
Page 7/8 is attached to page 9/10 (on the top) and 25/26 (side by side) while 9/10 is attached to 23/24 (side by side).

This would make the first set and third set of #s printed upside down per each portion listed above (if that seems right..i.e. page 1 and 32 are upside down compared to page 16 and 17)
