Wow!  I gave an extra copy of that pull out mod to Form Critic just for the asking.

Poor guy. He should have done some research before bidding.  :(

Will this be a one-time occurrence, or has Restonford found a new income stream from Pegasus magazines?

Caveat emptor.

[edit: same bidder has the current high bid on a Rappan Athuk Reloaded:

The guy should have put his money into Rappan Athuk Reloaded. It was a signed copy.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Aren't they all signed?  My copy was signed too.  I think you might be confusing signed with the golden ticket ones?

No. The copy on the auction had each of the books signed by Bill at GenCon.

So what are the golden ticket ones?

Each box has a small 'ticket' signed by Bill and Clark, with 6 special ones (one signed by their demon lords persona, one win free Necromancer Games products for life, +4 others I can't recall right now)

I believe only 2 have been mentioned as found.

Are the tickets actually golden, or are they identical to all the others and the buyer has to check the signatures? Goes and checks photos of the one he's just sold :?

Looks pretty normal to me, although Bill's signature is a little brief.

They are not any other color, and yeah that's Bill's signature or a varying degree there of :)

So I'm looking for a signature that's different from all the others?
How many people have ever given more than a cursory glance at that little chit of paper?
Bill Webb wrote:1. One card only is signed "Orcus" and "Tsathogga"
2. One card gets a lucky winner free copies of all our books (for as long as we make them, and 1 copy each) in pdf from DTRPG
3. One card gets you dinner at Gencon w/ the Necro staff (to be used any year).
4. One card gets you automatic admission to all our Gencon demo games for life.
5. One card gets you a secret prize...
6-1000. 995 cards get you a signed copy of the coolest dungeon ever made. Cards 1-5 get those too!

Sounds from that as if maybe copies 1 through 5 are special, although it may just be poorly worded, and you'd expect copies #001 and #666 to be in the hands of the authors.

Nope..they belong to people who have posted on the Necromancer Games forums.  And neither of those numbers was one of the lucky ones IIRC.  There is a map out there for where each number is, I'm sure the link is buried someplace on their forums.

The map link is dead.
I've had maybe four copies pass through my hands over the years, and I've never bothered to check the signatures. Now I'm just curious.

Greetings,

They were called "golden tickets" at the time RARe was released, somewhat analogous to Charlie & the Chocolate Factory.  I always assumed from the wording that in addition to the signed card that the winning boxes contained an additional ticket detailing the prize that was won.

But who knows since no one has really found any of the 5 winning cards, I suspect because the owners are still sitting prostrate in front of their shrink wrapped boxes.  Actually "Death Tribble" on the Necro forums did report finding the card signed "Orcus" and "Tsathogga".  Should take another look at that post.

Cheers!

Hmmm.  Maybe I'll have to remove the shrink from mine and take a look.

I remember in 2005/6 there were a stack of these up every week going for about $20. No-one could shift them. It's not the best product they produces, and coming at the end of JG's lifespan, I think they were scaping the barrel hoping for another CSIO. The only reason I can think why anyone would want this is for the whole whlderlands map sheet on mini-hexes which you don't even know is there unless you buy one. It's not advertised.

The last time one went for that price range was Q2 2007. ($59.95).
This one is the second highest price that I have seen.
They have not been coming up as often recently so that might explain this recent price.

Might just be worth mentioning if you sell Pegasus #1 to say it includes this:
