Wiser still, would be for eBay to institute "popcorn" bidding.  That is where bids placed within the last few minutes of an auction closing extends the auction by 10 minutes or so.  This accomplishes two things.  1) it nullifies people who are using sniping software and 2) insures that the seller truly gets the highest bid.

lol....
imagines bids on one of a kind and extrreamily rare items lasting for decades........

That would be good for Ebay...not for us snipers.  :?

Sniper programs would then be set to snipe according to the new rules. There would still be sniping.

One thing I really like about sniping is that I set it for exactly how much I am willing to pay and then walk away.

If I later decide that I don't want to bid, I just cancel the snipe with no one else caring anything about it.

That way, it is impossible for a shiller to bump me up artificially.

It is also impossible for Ebay to tell everyone else what I'm bidding on.

If I were a seller, I would hate sniping because it discourages impulse bidding.  As a buyer, I love it.

Nice price on the Dungeoneer Compendium Jason. I've been watching this and the highest I've seen it go for before your $10.50, was $4.04!

For some reason these sell very well. I think I'm sold out on them and they've gone for as high as $15 ( $24 seems silly to me too).

A long time ago, I actually made him what I figured were reasonable offers on this and another item.  As I recall, his counter offer for this one was $22.50.  I'm not surprised to see that he still has it.  I later found one NM from Noble Knight for $9.95, I think.

These often appear on Ebay in the $3 range.

I always ask $9.99 and they always sell, but I don't charge shipping. If I could get them at $3 apiece in bulk I'd stock up on them.

I made an offer of $11.50 and he countered with $20.5. I declined.

If any of you have one for less larcenous prices please let me know, otherwise I guess I will wait for a resonable price to appear on E-Bay.

Only if you constantly overpay for items on impulse like I do.

$30 for Lara's Tower, anyone.........anyone.........anyone.....?

normally $5

.......screeeeechhhhh (braking sound)....hold everything...I just found why the above Seller listed his at $30

$31.55 for a VG!!!

This is a common module and I have not seen a VG sell for over $4 prior to this!

....(edit)

In fact the Seller that has now listed at $30, had theirs listed at 99 cents but it passed in with no bids!

Remarkable!
