Hey FormCritic,

Thank you for the detailed reply.

I was comparing the final prices for these items compared to what is listed in the ACAEUM price list for the same items. As I use that to get a ballpark figure of what they should be going for.

I noticed an increase of about 50% comparing the Ebay price and the ACAEUM price list. So because of this difference I was wondering whether or not they went for too much? Or is it the correct price?

Best regards,
Ronald

Shorter answer - Yes - Those prices are about what these two publications go for at the moment.  The price is likely to increase.

Ok I've been following some JG items as I was interested in getting a hold of these. But the prices are going higher than what I was willing to pay.

So I just wanted to get some opinions on this board, are these prices going higher than what they should be?

Or am I missing something?

Judges Guild CITY STATE INVINCIBLE OVERLORD D&D Gaming

** eBay auction listing blocked.  Please enable cookies in your browser for this site and for eBay! **

It's a revised City State, I think 5th or 6th printing, and currently at US$61.00 with under an hour to go.

1980 Judges Guild D&D Game Book TEGEL MANOR Fantasy

** eBay auction listing blocked.  Please enable cookies in your browser for this site and for eBay! **

It's a 3rd print Tegel Manor at US$43.00 and 2 1/2 hours to go.

Are these prices right for these items?

Best regards,
Ronald

7th print for the RCSIO
4th print for the Tegel
So yeah both are close to the mark on those prices.

Hey Shane,

Thanks for the correction on the prints.
I see based on that the final prices are closer to what was listed.

Best regards,
Ronald

So...now is the time to snap up Judges Guild commons and look about diligently for the pricier items.  Chances are, if you search online and keep an eye open, some of the more expensive Judges Guild items will fall into your hands.  (My two copies of Dark Tower cost $10 and $5...at a time when $30 was the norm.)

I was bidding on a JG module called Duck Tower at Gencon against the Burntwire Brothers and got it for $12 or $15...

... As God as my witness I swore the auctioneer was saying Dark Tower as I had my bidder card raised high in the air...

You're sure that's not just the lighting in the background?

I've never seen a colored JG map before (did they ever sell them as such)?

It was a joke. But it is a fetching colour for a map.

I hit the BIN on that listing and to be honest, I think I got a very good deal for that listing.

But then that listing you linked to was not for a copy of the "Revised" City State set either.

Revised City State of the Invincible Overlord

It was for a First Print City State Package, which includes far more material than the City State itself.

City State of the Invincible Overlord Playing Aid

MUCH harder to find in any condition, and even tougher to find complete.

Gnat : was it in as good a shape as they claimed? If so, I'll second you getting a very good deal on it. Even if its only grades 'very fine', I still think you got a deal.

The set was complete and in generally Fine to Very Fine condition.
Only a couple of items would be less than Fine (And they were described).

Duck Tower is a Runequest module.  I've been meaning to pick up a copy just for the sake of being a completist.

I keep forgetting to look out for it.

I dont recall ever seeing auctions for these before either.

Aaron is selling the original manuscript for Inferno.  Very cool, but as usual for NobleKnight, a bit on the pricey side.

Hey Brette,

Thanks for the heads up.
That 1023 pack is really interesting to me.

They've been hawking this for well over a year now. Someone is badly deluded about how valuable the work is. It's just another module banged out by JG. If it were the original MS for CSIO, I could see someone thinking it were a fair price, but this is a case of someone thinking they've got ahold of a landmark MS when in fact they've got just regular pulp dungeon work.

I've been buying from NKG for many years, always when they screw up and get the price wrong. They never really seem to be able to learn and either price things way overboard or they badly underprice their stock and throw their priofits away.

The manuscript is a unique item and there's obviously no hurry to sell low and take a lesser amount.

When it comes to manuscripts of the D20 era...say, two decades from now...there mostly won't be any manuscripts because everything was done on computer, including maps.

These sound like calculated moves - the expensive items are meant to sit there forever & look cool, essentially a museum to attract attention. The bargains encourage customers to look through more of the catalog in hopes of finding stuff cheap. In any event, you say you've been buying from them for years, so they must be doing something right.
