That's a 2nd CSWE... the 1st had the main book, "Shops," in brown, not full color, IIRC. Still, looks to be in good condition...

*nods*

Well anyone bidding on the "NM" and not on the rest of the description is not being wise... We all know that the ratings don't mean a whole lot.

I'm not 100% sure of that. Check this link:
keltic71.tripod.com/Universal-Fantasy/j ... peror.html

It shows a color cover for 1st ed., and it shows that it didn't say "Approved for use with Dungeons and Dragons" on the bottom. This is why I'm inclined to think the auction is 1st ed. *shrug*

Well, to resolve that issue, we'd better ask IO himself.

I have found that you can't really rely on the information on that site. I have found that almost every printing I've had to check has been wrong.
IIRC, the best way to destinguish between first and second printings is to check the copyright dates.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Copyright date is even wrong in some cases..so far it boils down to the highest # in the booty list/treasure vault as the best method.

I'll have this on the site, but going through everything I have this defines most items. Another indicator is the Judges Guild address, though it only helps to eliminate certain years (and one has to look at every place it is put i.e. copyright page, list at the back..)

Well now to throw a monkey wrench into this..just got photos of the books, etc and this is a 3rd printing (1982).
Lists city state adventures up to Pegasus 9.
Does not have the approved for Dungeons & Dragons which was taken from later printings.
Copyright date of 1982.

So there ya have it, time to correct the print run for this.

ShaneG.

Edit: I've included what I believethe actual print run is though honestly I do not have the 'highlighted in green cover'. Those that have the CSotWE help me by confirming copyright dates/product lists from their copies. Please!  :)

1st Printing: (1980) Has "Approved for use with Dungeons & Dragons" highlighted in green.

2nd Printing: (1981) Has "Approved for use with Dungeons & Dragons" on the cover and stock number and Price in square in the bottom right.

3rd Printing: (1982) Does not have "Approved for use with Dungeons & Dragons" on the cover.
